Avenue of the giants
We are considering taking hwy254 (avenue of the giants) rather than 101. Has anyone run this recently? Looking for feedback regarding road quality, tight turns etc. pulling a 27’+.

We are currently in Myers Flat Ca. The Avenue of the Giants road is open and no problems. Visitors Center is open just north of Myers Flat no restrictions. We are in the rv park in Myers Flat with some open site. Gas is around 6.49 to 7.29 propane in Myers Flat is 3.50.

I forgot that we did not pull our trailer over it. Our trailer is parked on the rv park. There are signs along the road that warns truck with a trailer over 30 ft from king pin to rear axle not to drive. Just drive slow like everyone. There are a lot of turn offs and side roads to take. I would recommend park the trailer and drive your TV and enjoy all side roads.

Just returned from there a few days ago, There is no way would I take that HWY towing it just isn't wide enough and the tree trucks are right on the edge of the Hwy. We disconnected at the RV Park and drove it with just the pickup. Definitely worth the drive it is absolutely spectacular! Don't miss it. Also, if you can plan it don't miss Rockefeller Grove also on the same Hwy.

Avenue of the Giants
We just drove it north to south a couple weeks ago pulling our 25’ with no problem. It is narrow in spots, but by simply driving slowly you can avoid any problems and really enjoy the view! Stopped at the Founders Grove and it was fabulous!

Like others have said you'll be fine. As I recollect a little tighter at the south end at the drive thru tree. Hey 101 up thru the ave area was always the main N/S truck route, bypassed in the 60's/70's go accommodate larger tandems and avert the seemed like every storm closure when the Eel flooded. Look for the flood height markers at bridges over the eel and one i remember at the Redcrest 101/ave intersection near the junction with the Mattole. Puts the term high water mark in perspective.

I chickened out. We were only on the AOTG’s for a half mile to our campground. We then drove our TV up and down the Avenue. I still feel that was a better decision. There were enough spots where there were trees tight to the already narrow pavement. And it never fails, I always get an on-coming vehicle, biker, and trees all at once. It happened about three times with the TV. Pulling a wide body AS would have been nerve racking for me. Similar to a tight construction zone. It can be done, but not necessary. On another note, Avenue of the giants is a must see amazing drive. For any of you who haven't seen it, do it!!!
