AS/RV storage in Chicago area...
In my continuing feasability study on owning an Airstream, I wonder if anyone in the Chicago area con recommend a reputable storage place for you beloved AS. I am finding that the closer in to downtown, the more expensive. There is a place called Acorn RV storage in Mundalein that charges $130.00 per month storage, but you can access your rig anytime betweeen 5:00AM and 11:00PM 7 days a week. This place also features covered "car-port" style stalls.
Any other Idears.

I store it on my driveway. I'm in the northern suburbs and my neighbors are great about it. My garage though is futher back on the lot so it is mostly out of sight.
I took a look at a place right off the fox river near Lake Zurich we used to store our old camper at. It used to cost about $200 a season. It was a farm.
Went back to check it out and it was homes and a forest preserve now!
There are some places north, but I have not investigated it very much. Also there are places just north of the boarder as well.
If you find something good, please post. I will do the same.
Regards,
Eric

I wonder whether there are covered spaces. Gotta find a place for the Bambi--while it looks luscious sitting in the driveway, it doesn't fit in the garage in the event of a hailstorm.
I see outside yard storage off I-57 at Bourbonnais that has an Airstream in it already. If anyone's interested I'll stop next time, but it's a good hour from the city.

try Rockford
We keep our unit at a GREAT mom and Pop owned fenced storage yard here in Rockford, about 90 miles west of Chicago.
They charge us thirty dollars a month!
It's about a mile from my house, but I go by often to see her.
It's a nice drive, and something you should think about, even from Chicago.
The owners live on premises and have me tell them when we're going to take her out so they don't wonder why she's gone. The only problem is they're closed on Sundays. That hasn't actually been a problem, though.
Contact me for details if interested :-)

We will be stopping in Lisle, IL for a few days after Alumapalooza and need a place to leave the AS while visiting relatives. This thread is quite old, so I was wondering if anyone has any newer information.

Hey Wayne & Sarah,
I've never used this place - just looked it up for fun for ya. BUTTERFIELD Rd RV STORAGE
Looks like a mom n' pop place rather than a chain, based on the rather rudimentary site. I wonder if they'd give you a "few days" rate as a courtesy, it's in Naperville which isn't too far from Lisle.
Otherwise, you might call the city of Lisle on Tuesday and ask if they know of any short term secure storage businesses right there in town. For a few days, you really only need somebody in your relatives' neighborhood - 25' isn't that crazy long.
Good luck - have fun at 'Palooza.
