I’m definitely seeing more Basecamps out on the road. I saw one today in Woodland Park, CO while I was pulling out of a gas station towing my 23FB.

More RVs

My impression is that there are more of all makes of RVs out and about these past few pandemic years.

With as many new Airstreams as they are making, we thought we would be seeing more of them on the road. We do not find that we are seeing any more Airstreams than we did fifteen years ago. This could be because we do not travel the interstate highways.

Just returned from a 4500 mile, one month trip from Dallas area to Santa Fe to Boulder to Laramie to Cody to Yellowstone to Jackson Hole to Tucson to ShowLow to home.

Saw two Airstreams parked side be side at Shoshone Park in Wyoming and a Basecamp being towed on I-40. That was it. Incredibly surprised. Time of year? Gas/diesel cost?
Sitting out a year?

We snuck into Fairbanks for a wedding this last weekend and were surprised to see three other Airstreams - more than we have seen at this RV campground during several visits in past years or even earlier this year. One from Pennsylvania, another from Illinois and one we saw on the way out where the TV had a "COMMERCIAL" front license plate - but couldn't quite see the state.

Interesting variety of TVs, too.

Oh, also saw one (shiny, looked new 25) circling Jackson town center while we were having lunch at the Silver Dollar Grille patio at the Wort Hotel. Proud new owner? Lost?
Looking for that elusive in town parking spot? Came around at least 3 times.

Well, we camped with 28 in the Niagra Falls KOA , 6 in Sampson SP, 20 in Magintacook, ME, 6 in Goldsboro, ME and 915 in Fryeburg Fair , Maine.

Of course one of those was the international rally.

I think fuel prices are a major factor.

We travelled 6300 miles SoCal to Juneau AK via Banff and back thru Vancouver in August and saw an average of five per seven days; some days saw none.

Most of the time we had the only AS in the RV campgrounds we stayed at (20 nights of 24); one had four others, another had 3 others.

I don’t know what is “average”; I’m just relaying info for everyone else to use if they like.

We've been seeing Airstreams all over the PNW and desert southwest this summer. At least 2-3 on the highway every driving day if not more and more this summer than ever before.

But ironically we just got back from a trip through the Canadian Rockies and only saw maybe 2 Airstreams the entire time we were in Canada.

Don't Canadians like Airstreams?

Hi

I have a nasty suspicion that, if you saw an AS with PA plates on it, it was a 30' Classic with Uncle Bob drinking beer in it. Just a guess ..... We've been in Fairbanks for a bit over a week at this point.

Right now in this campground we are one of five Airstreams here. Since two of them belong to me, it is not quite clear how you would do the math on that

( Just to confirm / deny .... we are at River's Edge Campground .... )

Yes we are seeing more on the road this year than other years. That’s a good thing.

Yup - we were the 27' International in the C row, red F250 with topper. Still a little squeamish about disturbing folks, but shoulda, coulda, woulda...
