God this is exciting!!!!

We go later in April. A few questions if the OP doesn't mind my piling on...

1) - exactly where do you park to "camp"? I couldn't quite tell from Google Maps. We'll be getting in on a Sunday night - they say they're open 24x7 for this but I don't expect anyone to be there when we get there. Sounds like we need to disconnect and leave our ProPride stinger in the trailer side...are there full hookups (30A, city water, sewer) ?

2) the service manager sent me some notes including the fact that they're "pet friendly". Just how pet friendly are they? Pets at the campsite? Pets in the waiting room? Pets on the tour (ok, that's just for comedy - I wouldn't take her on the tour ;-) ).

3) speaking about per friendly - do folks have suggestions on pet friendly activities, attractions, sites, off-leash dog parks, etc in the area?

4) while they're working on the unit, can you watch what they're doing? Can you hang out at your camp area (without your trailer)?

Thanks! I could NOT be more excited for the visit!

1. You stay in the Terraport- the campground at the Mothership. It is 3 circles of 8 camp sites for a total of 24 camp sites. It is near the factory and service center- on the same grounds within walking distance.
The John Deere tractor that comes to get your house at 7 AM will need your ProPride stinger.
The campground has water, sewer, and electric (30 and 50 amp I think).
2. Pets allowed in the Terraport and in the lounge/waiting area.
3. Don't know about what to do with the dog while your trailer is in for service. Hang around the campground, go to town, etc.
4. Yes, you can watch them work on your trailer. Yes, you can hang around in the campground near your tow vehicle. Get your Zip Dee chairs out of the trailer before the John Deere tractor comes.
I am so looking forward to our September 16, 2014 visit to the service center and factory.

Quickly...
Down the main drive on the right. You will see a sign.
Park wherever you like. Arranged on 3 starlike neighborhoods. None nicer or better... all the same.

All sites have water sewer 30 and 50 amp service. Dumpster in the middle.

Dog friendly as in at your site, around the factory property and in the customer lounge.... not in the Assy. Building. I always let run in the open areas as long as there are no objections... you'll see. Lots of people with dogs there. Not sure about other friendly places.
Sewer was designed for 1970 era rear bumper discharge... they seem to run uphill... not a problem just have a prop under your stinky hose.
You'll have a swell time there. Beware of the store and buy it while you have it in your hand!

We are doing a lot of touring around and sight seeing when we go in September.
I started another thread a little while back titled "Our September 2014 Visit to the Mothership".
In it I talk about all the things we are doing on that trip.
It's gonna be fun.

If you had time you could venture south to Dayton and visit the Air Force museum. Only about an hour. Free and worth the time. If your say of the week timing worked out... the second street public market is also a great half day killer. Local produce, live good music, art stuff. Really a top shelf market.

The USAF museum is a big deal. It is not a breeze through place. You can easily spend an entire day and not see it all!

rperrym, did you decide to keep your April 1 service appointment? We'll be there for Monday, March 31 appt. Apparently it will take all day, perhaps stretch into the next morning.

TinTin, we are still on for April 1, but we are watching the weather hoping it will improve drastically between now and then. We have a route going through Memphis and then north on I-55, then to I-69 to Elizabethtown, Kentucky and on to Cincinatti. If things change, I will send you a message.

If you stop by the AF museum with your trailer watch where you park. A parking lot Nazi ruined our trip there. He was a complete ***hat.

For another must do destination along the way, and I really mean must do....
Google Jingle Jim's in Fairfield Ohio.
I'm not kidding it is the biggest spectacle you can imagine! Plan to visit with an empty fridge/Freezer and pantry. I used to live close it was my grocery store.....
An American treasure for sure!
Only a few minutes off I75.

The USAF museum is a great trip. I used to coach a Midget (15-18 Year old) hockey team and we played a round robin tournament in Dayton every year and one of the things the parents and kids loved to do was visit the museum. Old plans, new plans, volunteers who know what is going on, the ability to sit in some cockpits. But, no dogs and it can take a very long time - totally up to each person, no set visiting rules etc.

Enjoy - weather should be fine, cool - cold at night and pretty nice in the day. Golf courses will be open.

Thanks much for the great suggestions. We will add Jingle Jim's and the AF Museum to our list. I do wish it was later in the spring so we could also take some time to see Kentucky as well as Ohio. But, I would like to get this work done so I can put it behind us and enjoy the new trailer more.

We hope to visit the USAF museum on March 30, the day before our appointment. On March 31 we'll do the factory tour.

A few years ago we visited the museum at Hill AFB, near Ogden Utah, another very good Air Force museum. They have a copy of the Wright Brothers plane, and nearby an SR71 Blackbird. Development of these two aircraft was 50 years apart. Amazing half century.

I found the presidential aircraft display fascinating. This is a separate, still free tour from the main museuem. You have to sign up for a time and take the free shuttle to the hangar on the active part of the base. Best part of the museum, IMHO.
