We went last summer with two 30’ classics. Paved all the way. Did run into construction (an annual event) to repair frost heaves etc with stretches of gravel prior to repaving. It was in very good shape with the exception of Between Haines Junction and Tok. The part between Haines Junction and the Canadian boarder station had some pretty significant frost heave area and not much repair work happening (August 2021) but I understand this area has received major funding for improvements - not sure when construction will start. The part between the Canadian border station and 30ish miles west of the border (in Alaska) but east of Tok was quite bad. Not sure of the plans to improve.
Everywhere else, Canada or Alaska the roads were good.
The worst road hazards encountered was a thick tar all over the vehicles picked up in the construction sections - again mostly between Tok and Haines Junction
