Alaska ferry from Washington with Airstream?

Has anyone taken their Airstream on the ferry from Alaska to Bellingham Washington? Dear hubby and I are looking to plan a trip in summer of 18, from Washington to Alaska. We are wanting to drive up thru BC then take the ferry coming back thru the inside passage. Anyone have advice who has done this? Also any ideas on how far in advance we would need to reserve a space on the boat? Lastly anyone do this trip with dogs? We will be traveling with our 2 and I am wondering if there is a spot for them to use to potty while en route on the boat. Thanks in advance!

Think about taking the up and back, you may have less traffic both diving and in the ferry, many more people drive up and take the ferry south
