Airstream on a WA state ferry?
We are currently in Anacortes, WA after a 10 day stay and planning on moving on down to Poulsbo, WA tomorrow. My question is does anyone have any experience with the Keystone, Port Townsend route and whether you had any trouble getting on with the tide high or low? I saw on another (small)ferry a camper drag on the ramp and I was thinking that he had allot more ground clearance than us. I was just thinking driving around through Seattle, Tacoma and back up to be safe?
Thanks for any advice or tips, we have never taken the AS on one.

You can scrape on the ferry at low tide. High tide is not normally a problem. The Keystone ferry operates on a reservation basis and can fill up. The Edmonds ferry can be easier to get on and is about the same driving distance to Poulsbo. I took the Edmonds ferry last week in our 28' moho and the cost was about $50 with one passenger. Your rig will likely be $60 to $70. A drive around to Tacoma is a consideration dollar wise and may not be bad time wise depending on your wait tme at the ferry.
Cheers, Dan

What Dan the man said: drive down to Edmonds, but still, know your tides.

Have a nice drive and enjoy the scenery. If you feel like a drive out west give me a shout.

We are having a small rally in Hoodsport this weekend (starting tomorrow) at Rest Awhile RV park. This is on Hwy 101 just north of Olympia. You (and anyone) are welcome to join us for a visit or the rally.

Personally, it's cheaper to drive south through Tacoma and north on I-5

We've crossed on the Edmond - Kingston ferry towing our 69' Globetrotter land yacht a few times, both low and high tide, with no issue. And our clearance isn't great in a 96' stock 2500 Chevy Silverado.
But in general I agree with howco... unless we're coming down from the North we always drive around when heading out to our place on the Peninsula.

We missed you by a week. We were there the week before you folks headed that way. We did see quite a few Airstreams on the road going past the Rest Awhile Park and wondered where they were going.
