Airstream Nest
Has anyone seen a new Airstream Nest plying the highways and byways?
We have been on the road now for forty-five days, and have traveled the entire width of the United States. We have stayed in at least twenty different campgrounds. We have not seen a single Nest, and we notice all other RV's.
We always notice Casitas, Scamps, and Olivers as we appreciate the "egg look". If a Nest had been anywhere in view, we would have noticed it. Especially with it's rear entrance door which is is a dead give-a-way.
I have one more question. Is the gray over white the only color combination that it comes in?
We thought that we would see one on the road before we had to go to an Airstream dealer to have a look.
It's also a little curious that we have not had any "Nesters" make an appearance here on the Forums.

There are a couple fo Nest owners here, though as far as I know, with only a hundred or so Nests on the road so far, the odds of seeing one in the wild are pretty small.

Hi
There's one two spaces up from us here in the campground. From talking to them, they seem to be very happy with it.

Get a picture of that guy, Bob. That's akin to seeing a woolly mammoth in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

That thing is at least as cute as a Casita, probably even cuter with the door in the back.

We saw one on the lot at Dixie RV ( NW Florida on I10) a couple of weeks ago..
Just there for a dog break.
Dealer was closed but looked like inventory.

I hate that someone said they(Nest) looked like a 'horse trailer'. Now I can't get that vision out of my mind. The door is already in the back for loading.
I guess if the windows folded down
Looking at the pic, the AC makes the difference.
Have a good one,

Hi Brian!
We just traveled 9000 miles with our Nest from PA all the way out West, North and back again. It was our first Airstream trip and we were barraged (in the best way possible) at every campground, gas station, grocery store, stop light... Even non-RVers were curious and excited and we eventually had to adopt a no-shoes-allowed tour policy for the number of times we let people peek at our Nest set-up.
Airstreamers are the BEST. At every campground, we met the kindest most helpful and fun folks. Our Nest has a lot of issues (another thread) and is currently in for service, but we’re hopeful Airstream can fix all of our Nest’s problems and get us safely back on the road soon bc we adore the camaraderie and kindness of being part of the AS family!

Yes that "horse trailer" quip was about the Basecamp.
May I remind everyone that there are lots of other very active Nest threads, actually in the Nest sub-forum [not this "On the Road" forum], per this earlier post:

Hi, everyone. I am actually a 2019 Nest owner. I love the design, the colors, the modern look. But I am beginning to wonder if it is all just "eye-candy". I have had some pretty bad luck with my Nest so far.
Wondering if there are any other Nest owners out there. Even more to the point: Has anyone had any issues or defects that they have come across with their Nest?
I wish that this posting could have been under different circumstances. Sadly, it is because the Nest seems to have some major short-comings regarding Quality.
Presently, I am in an open dialogue with Airstream directly about how they intend to resolve this matter. I have a detailed video on YouTube describing ALL of the problems my particular Nest is having. They have asked me not to release it to the public. I have agreed in the hopes that they will offer up a satisfactory resolution to the matter.
I will however, list a few of the issues for any others who may be having their own set of problems, and wish to let it be known:
- Ceiling sagging and dropping debris
- Sidewalls in galley flex and move, like they are not secured
- Numerous bolts and screws found laying about; no idea where they go or what is now unsecured
- Fabric on the walls sagging and detaching from cushioned backing
- Drawers not working properly
- Shower door hinge off-center, leaving a gap in the seal
- Numerous loose screws (if you haven't checked... I urge to do so BEFORE they fall out)
- Screen door handle comes detached and falls to the floor
- Vinyl flooring buckling up and detaches from subfloor
Like I said, I have a video documenting all of this. I am curious... did I just get a "lemon". Or, is Quality Control for the Nest really just that bad? I considered several others options before deciding on the Nest: NuCamp T@B, Jayco, Casita, etc. ALL of which are much more affordable. I was, and still am, happy to pay a little more for a better product. BUT, when that "better product" fails to be the case...
I am not trying to give Airstream a bad name here. Let's be honest: These campers aren't cheap. The Nest should be MUCH better than this. The camper is less than a year old! And I have been the owner for less than 4 months!
So, is anyone else having issues? Did I just happen upon a rear defect? Is Airstream possibly releasing this Nest camper prematurely, without adequate quality control, and just now finding out that it has serious issues?
Maybe. If so, then if I were to do it over, I would wait to buy a new Nest and see how they work out the bugs a few years from now. If it makes it that far.

We saw a Nest and a 1st generation Basecamp last week as we made Bentonville Arkansas.
The Nest was towed by a nondescript sedan, the Basecamp by a Land Rover Defender 110 (93 NAS).
2 oddities independent of one another on the same day!

Thank you for your detailed comments -- sorry for your troubles! FYI Posts #15-16 here have some links to other Nest threads/posts which may interest you.
You might also want to check out the list of topics in the Nest forum:

Good luck getting this resolved.
