Love your post and especially the no quit attitude. No doubt there’s going to be many adventures to come for you all.

We took our 23 Ft Safari from Florida out to Northern California for use out there... We stayed in hotels the whole way so as to minimize the time required to do so. No regrets! We regularly take cross country trips in a variety of vehicles. Seen so much of the country it doesn't bother us to not take the time to smell the roses. We usually just want to get to our destination.

We’ve gone from central California to Cincinnati, Ohio, which is probably over two-thirds of the way across country. It was an easy and enjoyable trip and we would have no trouble making it the rest of the way east — next time!

We are making plans for a trip from PA to AZ and UT next year. The plan at this point is to go west via I-40 and return on I-70.

For those of you experienced in cross country trips do you make reservations ahead of time or on the fly? Which do you recommend and why?

Thanks!

Airstream cross country trip.

This year we plan a cross country trip to Alabama with the AS, then touring around the east coast and Disney world with just the TV. August-September timeframe.

Plan is to ‘CrackerDock’ or ‘WallyDock’ most of the way cross country, hotels and stay with family/friends the rest of the way. Probably no reservations but one night in a KOA if needed.

Prior similar trips were totally planned, reservations in advance, and had a lot of ‘gotta get there’ going on. Not going to do that to ourselves this trip. The only thing fixed on the schedule is the part of the trip to Disneyworld.

Hi, we have been traveling for about 14 years and never make reservations. In this time we have been turned down twice, but still found a place to stay.

I usually made next day reservations for KOAs using their website. My only problem was during holidays, when everything is booked. I could not get within 100 miles of Denver over Labor Day. Make holiday reservations a month in advance.

Our First Long Trip

We just returned from our first long trip from CT to the Tetons and Yellowstone NP. Logged over 6,000 miles visiting in all 7 National Parks and Monuments. We can't wait to go again. A few minor issues, but a great trip. We learned alot from this forum and from our trip. Thanks.

Senior Olympics

We just traveled Knoxville TN / Albuquerque and back to participate in the National Senior Games. AS pulled like a charm.

NH to Utah

Spent 3 days driving from NH to Utah. 1983 31' Soveign & 1999 F350. Family flew out and we spent two weeks touring Utah. Great sharing this with our kids. 28 Days and almost 7000m for my dog and I. Can't wait to do Arizona!
