4th of July Camping

Well, if you're headed to the OuterBanks of NC you might want to reconsider... The Tropical Depression (One) has been upgraded to TS Arthur, and by the time it gets to NC on Thurs/Fri, it will likely be a Cat 1 hurricane. Keep 'em pointed into the wind folks! And keep in mind the wind will shift as it passes by.

That's my fault. Every time we go we bring hurricanes with. Proof; we usually go late August. This is the first time were going for July 4. Getting the 4pm ferry to ocracoke today. :/

Thanks NJ! I've had the truck packed since Sunday, so Arthur has been a real bummer. I was feeling like a real boss with my campsite reserved on VA beach, and the city hosting fireworks on the beach as well. I haven't completely thrown in the towel, and might make the 3 hour trip, just for Saturday night.

Is that crazy to drive into that mess for one evening?

Time to test those seams for leaks! Two years ago we went camping in St Augustine when Tropical Storm Debbie made landfall and crossed the state right on top of us. Needless to say I had to put down the Winegard antenna.

Hope everyone is safe. The models were spot on for this storm, even 5 days ago. We only had a very light outer band here on Amelia Island yesterday evening as it breezed on by. We had much more rain tonight coming from the West as the backwash gets sucked into the storm.

Keep the weather radios on and watch for tornadoes folks
