1st Official Outing
Well, this is our 1st official outing. Drove 250 miles to a campground near where we were raised. Staying at the Cajun Palms in Louisiana. We are the only AS in the park of over 100 SOB's. Getting alot of questions and comments like "Do they still make those?" When they hear that yes they do, then they say they haven't seen one in a long time. What a sheltered community I guess. But before we got ours, we rarely noticed them either. Enjoying every minute!

Well we made it safetly back home and enjoyed the trip. Even so much we extended a day. Well there were 280 campers at this campground and we we had the only AS there the whole weekend and also the only ones there from Texas. They were locals there to enjoy the 1st spring fling. They had 2 bands (one local cajun band that was fantastic) that played, a gumbo cooking cpmpetition with 43 teams competing and a silent auction to help a group that makes clothes for premature babies. Let me tell you, the $10 cover was nothing and I at my fill of some of the best gumbo around.
I would rate this campground a 9, just because we couldn't enjoy either of the pools, putt-putt, volleytball, horseshoe, and soon to be movie theater. . The grounds even had 20 cabins and chalets for rent, bath/laundry house and we were escorted to out site.
Are golf carts usually at each campground? They were everywhere, all decked out with the state college and professional football team logos, flags, lights and music. It was great to ride and see how each camper was set up and decortated and I got many tips on what to bring and what not to.
Man this was a wonderful 1st outing, and can't wait to do it again SOON.

That place sounds crazy!!! movie theaters and putt putt!?!
It was probably a blast, you've definitely got me craven' some of that good popcorn shrimp gumbo with the potato salad in the middle. YUM!
Glad you had a good time in your AS (and really glad to hear those big bad SOB's didn't scare you away from haven a good time! )

Yes, they still make 'em!
Sounds like a wonderful trip and a great way to get started on your Airstream adventure...you will find that you are noticed wherever you go with your rig...from gas stations to campgrounds to grocery stores to where ever...people will stop and talk, and 85% don't think they make 'em any more.
This is is our favorite t-shirt...and just happens to feature a 19' Bambi just like ours!

Glad you had such a great time on your first outing. I could sure go for some of that cajun gumbo about now!
I don't think you will normally see too many golf carts at camp grounds. I like to go to bluegrass festivals; they are fairly popular at festivals so the owners can easily go back and forth from their camper to the stage area. You may also find them at campgrounds with a lot of seasonal campers (long term).

Sounds like a blast. Glad you were able to fend a few questions about Airstreams and show yours off.
We have a campground in North/Central Fl called Spirt of the Suwannee Music Park & Campground - sounds similar to Cajun Palms. We're headed that way in a few weeks. I was totally surprised at how much fun golf carts can be - especially through the trails in the woods - which is, surprisingly, encouraged by the park.
Enjoy! Laura

Laura, Our 2nd trip with our new 73 Tradewind will be river Jam. Is that the event you are going too? We are on the lake. Booked to late to get a sewer hu site. Hope to Meet you.
Our 1st trip is staying at the Koa on the Bay in st pete to go to the Tampa Blues Festival. We love music fests.

Just a comment about your awning. I have to put my awning out all the way or the door hits it. And if I don't add the floaties, it's Bonk City.
