1961 Bambi for $1000!

Here is a story we all wish we could live first hand. I attended a rally recently where another WBCCI member told me how they happened upon a 1961 Bambi in pristine shape (one small scrape on the exterior) which they subsequently purchased for $1,000! These people found the trailer accidently when they went camping a few weeks ago in Maine at a local campsite. The way the story went, another camper approached them and indicated he had a trailer just like their's (i.e., an Airstream) but it was really old and he didn't want it anymore. He then asked if they wanted to purchase this 1961 Bambi for $1,000. Of course they said yes!

There's a bambi not far from us, out behind some farmer's barn way off the main road. I drive by and see it sitting over there, not getting used all summer. The barn is falling down next to it, and they have a big SOB that comes and goes. If I just had some money I'd go knock on his door and ask if he'd like to get rid of it. I'd never mind another project!

At a recent rally we met a couple with a 58 AS who'd done a similar thing, and the folks said they were saving it for their daughter but she didn't want it, so what the heck - sure we'll sell it to you!

Everyday on my way to work, I see a 16' Bubble inside the fenced in area of one of those DIY storage facilities. I stopped once to leave contact information for the owners to no avail. At the price these little beauties are going for on eBay, I wouldn't be surprised if the owners were saving it to sell later to fund their retirement.

Was this by any chance the Bambi that was given away for free??
The article about the "town owned" Bambi being declared surplus, was in the news recently..

Or possibly the one that is on 125 in Plaistow,NH. We stopped and inquired about it, lot person said that it wasn't for sale even though folks had offered 10K for it.
