1 month into 1st trip.

[ATTACH]336346

Picked up a new 2019 FC 28RBT 25 Feb. Did orientation with great staff at Colonial Airstream and spent 1 night at dealership. Left next day for 3 months bouncing around panhandle of Florida. Do date trailer has been flawless. So far no major screw ups by me with our 1st trailer/1st trip.
Traveling with wife and 3 Labs; one a year old puppy. Put a wire mess crate under dinette table with leg folded up and table top supported by leveling blocks.... a life saver with the “wild one” on board.
Changing campsites once a week.... love the change in locations.
Towing with a 2016 Suburban with max tow package and it does fine. With a full water tank and all our stuff at 7200 lbs. Dealer put on an Equalizer hitch with 16 in shank and have plenty of room to open lift gate.

Fantastic!
That's the way to dive in!
More pictures!

Get ready for an onslaught of people claiming that the 16" shank will cause your trailer to flip end over end.

Eagletoo If you make the transit from the campsite through the channel to Upper Saranac Lake stop at our dock and say Hi. On the left side during the first straight section. Name sign on tree in shape of an FA-18.

I wish a Suburban would work for my situation; I'm interested in your experience. Have you been across mountains or through the hot desert yet?

Condo1, we will keep your location in mind next time we are “up there”. Thanks for the friendly invite.

Having any trouble finding campsites? How’s the AS holding up? Getting used to it? The more you use it, the more personalized it becomes. Lots of fun making it your own!

This forum is a wealth of info and friendly faces. There are no dumb questions.

Roll on!

1 month into 1st trip.

There are lots of great state parks in the Florida Panhandle. Some are closed with storm damage. Grayson Beach and Topsail are two favs. A little known park is Falling Waters, plus it is close to the Seacrest Wolf Preserve. Enjoy your adventure.Click image for larger version

Just completed round trip Phila-PalmSprings-JacksonCtr-Phila

Sierra 1500 pulling 2018 Bambi 16 with two labs. 6 weeks cross country - no reservations. Everything worked great. We stayed warm. Picked up from Colonial - July 2018. This is a new lifestyle. Love it!

HI Condo1!
Just had to send you and your traveling family a warm greeting!
It's so refreshing for new Airstream owners to post friendly, positive experiences.
As a lifelong (thus far) east coast resident, we enjoyed childhood vacations at NJ & MD beach destinations until we discovered the true gem of the Adirondacks! We tired of the crowded beaches and exorbitant summer season rates at beach destinations. We enjoyed more than 15 yrs. at a private log cabin on Rainbow Lake before the owners moved. Then found another gem on Simon Pond before we purchased our 20' Airstream from Colonial in 2014. As you discovered Colonial for your purchase, glad everything has gone well at this point. We have never had to return to Colonial but their tech support has continued to keep us very happy customers. We reached out to them from Canada, west coast and few other travel destination for mostly minor fixes and repairs. Keep that in mind in the future. A few times we came home to receive replacement parts waiting for us....just great customer service even out of warranty.

Since owning our Airstream we've been to Fish Creek, Lake Durant, Piseco Lake, and one of our favorite campgrounds-Lake Eaton with lots of great sites right on the water! So good luck to you on your new adventures!
Guessing you will probably stay home during the best of Adirondack summer/fall seasons. We getting closer to relocating close to Tahoe Nevada but our memories of our years spent in the Adirondacks will always be with us remembering the smell of balsam and early morning loon calls!
All the best,
FCloud9
Airstream owner

Congratulations! We are traveling with only one black lab and accumulate enough hair to stuff a pillow. Can only imagine what you collect .

FA-18? Is Condo a call-sign? Familiar to me if so...

28 Ft. Flying Cloud

We have had our 28 Ft. Flying Cloud for over 3 years now. We started at 20, then went to 25. The 28 rear bedroom layout is just right for us and our 2 mini schnauzers.

Only changes we have made is to replace the OEM skylights with Maxim Custom Skylights, replace the Goodyear tires and have new Michelin radials with a larger rim installed, have a multi-stage converter installed since we leave ours plugged in at home when not in use, had shelves put in the two closets beside the bed, had the sofa bottom cushions upgraded to a better quality, more firm foam, and re-plumbed under the sink to a much neater configuration with pex.

pm me if you would like to see pictures of any of these upgrades.

We love the Florida panhandle too. Topsail Hill Preserve is our favorite Florida State park.
