Post Seeking advice on replacing butyl tape sealant on ridged aluminum SOB

I'm restoring a SOB, 1975 Northwest "proto-toyhauler" to be exact. It is wood frame with sheet aluminum siding, the kind that is stamped to look somewhat like horizontal boards. The edge-corners are sealed with extruded aluminum angle trim with a (missing) vinyl strip that goes over the screws.

I'm wondering what is the best way to install the soft butyl sealant tape. Along the roof edges seems pretty straightforward, but on the vertical surfaces, the corrugated ridges must be sealed as well. It looks like the corrugations are just tall enough that the 3/16" thick tape (thickest I found) might not seal in the valleys when it is completely compressed/squeezed out at the ridges. Is there thicker tape out there, or should I cut 3" pieces for the valleys, and lay another continuous piece over that?

Thanks,
-SilverSausage
