Beautiful trailer! We saw one recently out this way as well, though we missed getting pictures of the interior. The show was wrapping up, and they were ready to head out.

I can't stop checking this trailer out. My husband and I really admire your work! Would love to see it in person... Please post if you have any rallies in your future.

Thanks for your comments! Keeping it original truly makes it shine in and out. Very simple yet totally functional. I took it to a beautiful ranch in Agoura Hills over the weekend. The giant oaks and rolling hills were a fantastic backdrop to set this trailer up. Cocktail hour at sunset was nice. A friend of mine said I should name it "Steely Dan" as we were listening to some vintage Steely Dan. I have been trying to sell this trailer for a few weeks now and have a few nibbles on it. I just couldn't let it sit in the back yard looking so nice! had to sneak out for a quick weekend with her. Nice time!

Crankin' easy . . .

Chris:

I really like the period correct "handyman" handle on your trailer jack. I have the same threaded rod jack on my 1948 Wee Wind but still use the steel bar to raise and lower it. Yours is a practical workbench solution that could have been featured in the pages of Popular Mechanics. Nicely done!

Thanks you guys! I think the hardest part of restoring this trailer was the thinking part. There are always challenges with a restore but this trailer needed some serious attention. I have pages of sketches and penciled thoughts everywhere. Many of these thoughts crashed and burned when I tried putting them to work. The physics didn't match the drawings. The tongue handle extension was a necessary addition since this trailer had no permanent propane tank. I thought of welding parts together or tilting a super long bent metal handle to get the clearance I needed. I finally came up with this idea and tried it out. If failed. The parts didn't fit. I spent more time at the plumbing supply place and looked online regarding specs and tolerances. I found that, if I used a different gauge heavier duty pipe, the tolerances matched the size I needed. There is lots of torque on that pipe so I used hardened bolts and nylock nuts. I happened to have an old Hadco handle in the garage, so I used that as the topper. The extension does work but is difficult since the screw is slightly bent. Here are before and after pictures of the tongue. Big difference and a nice upgrade! Chris
