Replacing original Avion Antenna

I have a 72 Avion and need to replace my original antenna. Looking at replacements, some require power for the amp. Do the original antennas have power wired to them or is it just a coax? If there is no power, I would have to rethink about placement in order to run power , may just have to go with a non-amp.

TIA

I think the only thing going to the antenna itself is the coax or flat wire. The amp wold be mounted inside somewhere, and that is where the power is needed.

Typically the amp is located at the tv antenna location near the beds and is identifiable via a small button you push to turn on and off. Some have a small light that comes on when turned on. You might consider going with a modern omni directional antenna that does not have to be raised or lowered. I have done that on both my Avions have had good reception with no hassle.

I'm probably just going to pull mine out (1978 28M) if you're interested.
As far as I can tell, it's just a coax running to it.

Just down the road from you within the Austin city limits.

Thanks, I yanked it out last weekend and just cut the coax at the base, then sealed it up. I will try an indoor one and if that doesn't work perhaps an omni.
