Help! Stuck door on my 1984 Avion

Ugh. Closed our door at a stop without first locking the screen into it and now something is jammed. My fridge is off and I'm afraid everything is going to spoil. Is there a quick fix? It opens about a quarter of an inch and that's it. I don't want to force it. Thanks!

I've done this same thing myself.

You need to get the screen door close to the door, carefully pull it in with fingers or something plastic,it should release and you can open the door.

Hope this helps

You post has given us encouragement. For along time we have felt like a couple of fools being the only ones who have had this problem.

What happens to us is we have the screen door closed, the plastic slide slid part way open and then we try to close the outer door quietly by opening the latch while pushing the door shut. Once the door is shut and we release the handle, the inside door handle gets caught on the plastic slide just enough to create the resistance you felt and the screen door doesn't latch to the outer door.

Good news is, eventually we have learned to either make sure the screen is latched, and/or the slide is completely closed, and most importantly, to say "heck with the noise!".

Hope this makes since!

Oh man we are so loud with our door, but you're right it's the only way to get it closed correctly!

Hello Lifeincolor,
We are 4 months behind you having bought our '84 30R Avion out of Eugene. We live in West Linn, bought this in July, remodeled (yep, we painted alot of the original woodwork) all summer and are now on the road for a month, after dropping our youngest off at college in CA.
LOVING our choice, and learning about her along the way. I am totally bookmarking your post about the door, as it will probably happen to us somewhere along the trip!
I've followed your posts, taken your cues on yardage, etc. and unknowingly you've been involved in our remodel! Thanks for sharing your process. Hopefully we can meet and compare our trailers somewhere soon!
Would love to connect. Oh, and Mark (Airline) thanks also for your tips. Found you on CL and love everything you are doing to restore these great trailers.
