I purchased a 1949 Clipper last year. The entry door seems narrow. What were door widths on '46-'53 Clippers?
Also, exactly where can I find the serial number stamp on the tube frame. Inches from shell, etc. Mine is somewhat pitted and I can't find the s/n.
Also, ours has a tank platform welded directly in front of the shell. Is this original?
TIA

I have a 1952/3, registered as a lost title so date is (?), my door width is 25.5". It is s/n 2412. Try the bane plate. Is it a Curtis Wright or a Silver Streak? I never found the tube S/N, to rusted over. Best of luck.
There is no number stamped on the frames. The data plate to the rear side of the door. Doors I have, and have seen, are wider than a later (1950 and up) Airstream.

I don't have a data plate but I have a stamp (8090) as shown. It is about 10 inches from the body. Also the door opening is 32" wide. Based on my research, I have a 1947 Model 5 Curtis Wright.
