C- channel mystery.

Ok forum, need your expertise. Going back together with interior skins and we have these misc pieces of c channel. Thinking they go around windows ? Would appreciate Ya'lls expertise. The RamblerClick image for larger version

They’re probably the horizontal stringers that go between the ribs. Normally they’re not attached to the ribs, just bucked to the exterior skin and the interior skin is pop riveted to those. From what I understand, in aircraft they’re attached to the vertical ribs, in Airstreams they’re not. In my 55 I attached them to the verticals. You have C-channel around the windows, some are segments and some are the vertical ribs. After the interior skin is in, you have 90 degree pieces around the window trim the same gauge as the interior skin. That’s my best guess. Good luck, Bubba

You can look at the rivet holes and tell. If they were horizontal stringers, they should have been bucked to the outside skin. In speaking with Colin Hyde, he said if I could, attach all the stringers to the vertical ribs instead of letting them float. I was concerned about too much rigidity, but he said it wasn’t. Good luck, Bubba
