Question 1964 Northwest Coach - Lil Dipper ...any info???

Hi everyone:

I just purchased a 64 Lil Dipper TT made by Northwest Coach in Azusa California. It's approximately 13'X7'. Does anyone know anything about this trailer?

Mine is all original and has the usual slide out bunk with a unique 2nd bunk feature that brings sleeping capacity to 5.

I am interested in any history and have exhausted my online search.

If anyone has any pics or links for this, it would be greatly appreciated.

I will post pics soon....

So far, I have unclogged the hydraulic Atwood Surge Brake lines and will need to update the propane systems (Tank and OPD regulator). I have added 2 new outlets in addition to the 2 original ones and want to remove or find a replacement for the Propane lamp above the kitchen counter.

Here's an interior shot after purchasing some items to make it feel like home...(the 2nd bunk is not installed)

Regards,
Mel

What kind of propane lamp????

The second picture shows what's left of the propane lamp. Does anyone know where
I can find a replacement or what the brand/type of lamp is it? Thanks.

I found out that the aluminum trim can be polished to a mirror-like shine...so much work but worth it. Going to buy a tub of Nuvite and go to work. I resealed and cleaned the window in the pic and replaced all screws with stainless steel. New Maxxis trailer tires. Also repainted the ice box. More to come.

Where can I find replacement wedding cake taillights? Thanks.

It's been a few months and I have done a few trips in my TT. It tows like its' not there. I appreciate the see-through design as I can see straight through the windows using my rearview mirrors when I drive.

I found out that Northwest Coach was made by the Gates Furniture company out of Azusa, California. In all my research, I have only found 3 other examples that have really aged over the years.

If anyone has any more info or pics of other Little Dipper TTs, please let me know.

So far so good. The DuoTherm heater works great by the beach at night and the 12V system gives me plenty of light for the night. I am looking to install a new or used propane lamp where the old one used to be so I can use the gas lamp for light and heat as well. Anyone know where I can purchase one? The lamp being replaced is a Sunbeam product.

Thanks

That may be all there is to the propane light fixture. There should be a glass shade, it may be in one of the cupboards or maybe it got broken. Then, there is a mantle which is a little bag that ties on the lamp, these need to be replaced all the time anyway. A mantle once it is used, turns to ash. It can be reused as long as you don't move the trailer, if you move the trailer it will get shaken to bits.

There should be a valve on the fixture to control the gas too.

Here is some good info on gas lamps. I turned it up with a quick Google search, no doubt there are other good sites.

I just checked, ebay has several listings that may get you what you need. Search "Humphrey Gas Light" - parts and a couple of complete age appropriate fixtures will come up.

BTW, we have two of the Mickey Mouse pillows like the one you have in the photo in your first photo (linked .BMP format).

We have them on the sofa in our media room...which is decorated in Disney/Mickey Mouse. Imagine that.

You can buy high quality reproductions of the Bargman 99 tail lights for $25 a pair on ebay. Look up seller mooseattack. I've bought several from him and they are a very good product and come with gaskets and stainless screws.

I bought a '65 NW coach this previous summer. I believe it's a little dipper but the emblem is gone. I can see the screw holes about where it should have been. There's probably no hope in finding a replacement. It was in poor shape but I am restoring it to the best of my ability at the moment. I'm thinking these trailers are hard to come by. Mine did not come with the propane lamp, but besides that it is exactly the same as yours, at least what I can see from the picture. It's good to see pictures of what mine should look like completed. Thanks for all the great pics.

northwest coach little dipper

hi, i just bought a lil dipper and got it home yesterday. but mine is a mess. i to dont know anything about it. so was looking for some information too. i would love to see some more pictures of yours, maybe seeing what one looks like fixed up, will help me get over this dreadfull feeling that i got my self into a can of worms. ive got broken windows and a stoped up toilet, dont even know if theres a holding tank? it sure is low to the ground. i have restored several trailers , and almost have the interier done on my canned ham. . but this is just more than may be able to handle. it is so small its really cute that way. i was thinking of the club "" teardrop and tiney trailers"" . a group i really like , when i say it. love to hear from you Joyce desertlizards@q.com

Hi Joyce:

sorry for the delayed response. how's your build going? Please post pics or send me some. The windows are very cheap to fix. I replaced 50% of my glass for ~$20.

My next project is to install a replacement propane lamp...great for boondocking...light and warmth without needing to light the propane heater. Just got the moon hub caps installed and it's looking great now.

Hello

I was talking with my dad and he said that if I couldn't find a replacement "Little Dipper" emblem maybe I could get an etching of an existing one and make a replacement. If either of you fellow NW coach owners would be interested in helping me out it would be greatly appreciated. I tried to find replacement lenses for the tail lights to no avail, so I figured the emblem was definitely a lost cause. Cheers.
