I am brand new and just purchased this 1949 clipper, i am going to restore it, any comments, ideas, or suggestions would be much appreciated. this looks like a great place for experience and knowledge on trailers.......
Very nice trailer! The main concern with this age of Airstream is the "Tube Frame" much care needs to be made to correct the problems with this design and to not over weight the frame with all the wonderful things that make camping more enjoyable! We all wish you lots of luck! And welcome to the world of vintage Airstreaming!
We are pretty close for this part of the country. So...neighbor.
You let me know where you hang up on your project...When did you get it from Georgia....I saw it for sale recently. It looked pretty nice.
I have probably been there. I love my Curtis!!

Wow, thanks, thats good to know..... I pulled it back from Georgia last week, it has some separation and play in the front above the pipe, it looks like it was originally strapped to the pipe..... but not sure. anyway do you have a floor plan that seems to work for you, I want to put a shower toilet the whole works in it.

Nice find my friend.... you have come to the right place for advice. But not from me, I have a 72/31', but would love to own an older AS or SS someday (40's/50's/or 60's vintage).

Seen your work Dude. I'll talk advice from you anytime! BabyBoomers
I found that my choices were limited by the pipe frame overall strength and the full side windows. I just worked with what I had.

Thanks Mr. Boomers.... I try to do the right thing. I was meaning the tech stuff one learns when you're working on a much older trailer like this CR liner. I would love to find one in NorCal, that has been stored in a barn for the last 40 years... I know, wishful thinking.
