I can't reveal my secret but I have discovered a method which transforms smoke signals to jpg format.

I'm using an Olympus C4000. Its a 4 megapixal digital camera. I use a 128K smartmedia card. Beats shelling out for film. I take lots more pictures now. The Midwest forum rally pictures were taken with that camera.

Actually......
I now use an antique HP215 1.3 MP, but modern photo editors can do wonders.

I have a FujiFinePix 4700, 3.5 MegaPixel (it's getting old now). Four and five megapixel cameras are getting smaller and cheaper. They're great for novice photographers. I like my camera because it uses AA rechargeable batteries.

Using a sony MVC-CD400 has removable cd-r with 4 megapixal. Or I will use my Minolta 7XI and a scanner. Its so much easier to use the sony when Im going to use them on the pc though.

Olympus C3000 3.3 mega pixils.
Here is a tip. Find the camera you like then go to www.dealtime.com They have some rediculously low prices from some places. Print the lowest price and hit your local stores. So far I'm 3 for three. The Olympus when I bought it listed for $399. Best price I found local was $340. I hit deal time found the low price then hit Traget of all places and out the door for $260.
Sony vid cam. List 399. close out unit. found it on deal time for $250. Hit Target again. $250.
Garmin GPS V. List $499. Garmin had a $75 mail in Rebate. Circuit city had best price loca for $406 AFTER rebate. Found a place on Dealtime that had it for $402 BEFORE the rebate. after tax and the rebate I had it for $$340. Make sure they give the 110% price match guarantee.

Prior to April 2003 = Kodak DC280 2.0 megapixels...old (discontinued) but I LOVED it...until it stopped working after 4-1/2 years...great point & shoot
Since May 2003 = Minolta Dimage7 5.0 megapixels...still getting used to it, too much camera for snapshots, but also use it for work...great camera just more features than needed for hobbiest
Future = will probably get a smaller point & shoot to replace Kodak one...

Sony Mavica
I've used a Sony Mavica FD-90 for over 3 yrs now. To be honest with you..I find it to be very user friendly
I've used a Sony camera in all kinds of harse conditions without fail, from the Extreme Cold of the North Pole region to the extreme heat of the deserts without fail..
I use floppies, tons of them are available..plus the memory sticks.
Couldn't say enough for their products.
ciao

I use an Olympus D-520, a 2.1 megapixal camera. Most of my pictures here have been taken with it. I love the camera. My brother has a D-450 a 1.3 megapixal, that takes pix just as good.
All of the pictures I post here are run through "JPEG Optimizer" first to reduce the file size. This can/does reduce picture quality somewhat. But, turns a 140K size file down to under 40K so folks with dialup don't have to wait the rest of their life for a picture to load.
I have gotten some stunning 8X10's out of this camera, and also my brothers lowly 1.3 mega pixal camera. Some folks insist you need 4 megapixals to produce decent 8X10's, but I say not.

Your 100% right
PICK
I completely agree..For the 'home user', the 1.6 mp or, anything in that range will do a terrific job~
I have no problem with progress, nor shooting for the "moon" but, at what price? lol
I subscribe to: KISS

Our digital camera is a FinePix 201. We use this quite a bit. It’s a 2.o mega pixel and I feel it delivers more than what is adequately needed for a nice picture. I always try and use the highest quality setting on the camera and I find that the pictures look better that way.
Someone correct me here if I’m wrong but what I’m thinking is……..when using a digital picture for a computer, the picture won’t be any better than whatever the resolution is, say on your monitor. I really don’t know exactly what the numbers are but I think its way less than what most digital cameras will deliver. In simple terminology, you don’t need a very good camera to meet the standard of what your computer will see and it will be a good looking picture.
Back to using a camera, I prefer to use a 35mm then scan it into the computer. After this you can use an editing program to format it to a JPG or Gif file or whatever is needed.

I believe we're getting more away from the "develop film process"~
The good news is: I'm seeing newer products coming out that, give you the options of a 35mm, SLR approach to the whole process..
That's great~!

yes you are correct about the monitor for viewing.
the higher resolution (# of pixels) the more you can edit the pic.
here is an example...

zoom
now the same zoomed into the practical limits. mind you now my camera was set on medium res. (a little less than 800 kb per shot)
the more pixels when the pic is shot, the more you can play with it later...
