There are some very fine shots in this thread. After looking through most of my (many) photos, I realized I had none of a campfire and an Airstream in the same picture. This will be remedied this next week at the WDCU Rally at Trap Pond. In the meantime, here are some picture of one of my wood burners I made out of a coffee pot and an air pump. The first one is in front of the Bambi. The second shows how hot it can get. I don't mind wood smoke at all, but it's virtually smokeless.

Found one!
The wife took this one last week in Smithers, BC, Canada. We love campfires.

I took this picture last summer on our very first trip with our new-to-us Bambi. It's at Buckhorn Campground in the Angeles National Forest, just outside of LA. It's so nice to have this perfect little mountain escape so close to home!

It's a US Forest Service Campground at 9000', no hook-ups, a couple of dispersed vault toilets and spigots. It's called Alvarado Campground, it's just southeast of Westcliffe, CO and I think we ended up with one of the nicest spots. It was site #38...it's a smaller-trailer/tent-only kinda place, our 22-footer fit in this site - but much longer and it wouldn't. There are only 50 sites along the road before it dead ends - so we were near the end with mostly tent sites past where we were.

How's a fire, stars and the glow from the interior of a 'stream?
(Click on the photo, the details don't show well on the small version)

Here is Mr UK Toad at Inverhuron Provincial Park, Ontario. It's not often we have a camp fire but that night it was breakfast sausage and burgers, burned to about 85% carbon on the open flames; my eyes are stinging with the memory of it. Mrs T was behind the camera and using my tripod to get the long exposure, and a fine job she made of it. Mind you, you haven't seen the 973 shots she used to get it right!
