Came across these while watching John Wayne and "The Searchers" .... classicly BAD Western - but GREAT scenery!! - kept pausing to match our own Monument Valley pictures to the movie ..... the "sand drifts" were on our way to the Grand Canyon - and are a carbon copy of our own winter driving "snow drifts" (except smaller) .... but I had trouble imagining a "sandplow" .....

In case you missed it the Official Middle of Nowhere in post 50 above (intersection of Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico) was found to be several miles off. The actual middle of nowhere is really in the middle of nowhere.

My wife & I "toured" the four corner states when we got married over 25 years ago, and we did go to the "middle of nowhere" just to say we had been there, and recently heard the same, what a great laugh we had!
