June 2020 Photo Contest
Thank you MealsOnReels for the honor of lasts months photo contest. There were a lot of great entries and I definitely got some great menu ideas from everyone else that had a good time participating.
This months theme is "Design or Function".
Take time to really think about why you have an Airstream. Is it because of the classic lines, or because they serve a purpose? Take photos of your AS either in the interior or the exterior and find things that you have never really looked at before.
Here's the catch......if you can do it in Black and White even better. If not, all are welcome to play along.

Batman what a way to start. Hooray for you, I was hoping the first pick would be a black and white.

Mine don't count this month.....
Here is my contribution, however, mine do not count this month. I never get tired of looking at her. I look out at her everyday, sitting in the driveway on my way to work and again when I get home. There is something to be said about those classic lines

I LOVE the theme for this month's contest - being an interior designer, it's right up my alley! Functional design doesn't have to be "just practical" it can be beautiful too...I love the "Design" & "Function" of this simple vent on our 1956 Safari. It's probably one of my favorite details -

Congrats on the May contest. Cool topic for June.
Even the smallest detail makes the Airstream easily identifiable.

100% Function. The basecamp is so small and agile it allows us to go almost anywhere. Paired with the 3" lift and now 1.5" lift on our TV all we need are some better off road tires to be almost limitless to where we can go!

Here's another couple of oldies...both are from when replaced some panels on our (since sold) '64 GlobeTrotter. The first one is of pre-shaved Olympic rivets and the second one is of the "leftovers" after cutting several panels down to size.

June 2020 Photo Contest
I love the function - (the towablilty)
and the form (cool wheels)
She loves the form - it’s timeless lines -and the function - seeing the world around you in comfort

I think it's design and function, which are integrally related, but also something that's hard to put into words. It's like the feeling you get when you see a finely restored classic car or a 200 year old antique in perfect condition. Maybe a still-operating machine tool from the 30's.
It's the notion of craftsmanship, permanence and non-disposability, like owning a classical mechanical watch or something similar, durable and built by artisans to last a lifetime. We haven't had our new Flying Cloud very long, but we've come to love it as one of our most cherished possessions.
This photo from our last trip evokes the warmth, coziness and sense of security we feel each time we get "out there". End of the day, a great meal and a good night's sleep inside our aluminum cocoon.
