It's the notion of craftsmanship, permanence and non-disposability, like owning a classical mechanical watch or something similar, durable and built by artisans to last a lifetime. We haven't had our new Flying Cloud very long, but we've come to love it as one of our most cherished possessions.

This photo from our last trip evokes the warmth, coziness and sense of security we feel each time we get "out there". End of the day, a great meal and a good night's sleep inside our aluminum cocoon.

Well put! We feel the same about ours. We purchased our 2006 25’ Safari 2 1/2 years ago. I used whole life insurance money to buy it and I call it a reinvestment. When we go to sell in 25-30 years it will still have monitory value and our memories and experiences we shared will be priceless.

Agree. Reminds us of simpler times when camping was about enjoying nature and the outdoors yet having a place to relax, clean up and sleep comfortably. Not towing around a dwelling the size of a house with big screen TV’s, outside stadium lighting...

I was surprised at how the picture changed after cropping and making it black and white. I really like the vintage feel. This was taken at Whispering Hills Campground (now RV Park) in Ohio which was started by my grandad’s brother in 1968. I have been camping there ever since I can remember, first with my parents and brothers, and now with my own family. Unfortunately our extended family franchised it out to Jellystone about 10 years ago and it is less about the amazing setting and nature trails and more about golf carts, jump pads, entertainment on the big screen, and full hookup sites. The only thing I can count on is change, sometimes for the worse but sometimes for the better. To me it is better than stagnant.

I am pleased that you found it restful, Peter. Thanks [emoji4]. We could all benefit from a little more peace and quiet.

Steve

Not for judging just for visual interest, I hope.

This months topic is a really good one and I took time to play with some of our photographs. I have always like the simplicity and depth of black and white and got a little carried away.

When I read this month's theme, I heard "detail." So for anyone wondering where the letters went from post 31...

Three more and I will stop playing with my photos. These are just from this weekend at West Branch State Park. I’m starting to really appreciate black and white photos
