SC Coastal Rally

Last weekend was our coastal rally at Rocks Pond Camp ground in north east SC. My grand daughter Isabel (the brunette)and her friend Jennifer (the blond) (both 9 years old) caught this really big 24# CATFISH which we all enjoyed for lunch. They had a little help from grandpa bringing it in. He came running when they started yelling "grandpa help" and after the BIG FISH broke the line he ended up jumping in to catch it and throw it up on shore before it swam away. The girls will have a "BIG FISH" story to tell for a very long time. It was a really big deal for them.

Nice! Very nice indeed! Keep 'em coming. I want this to be a real challenge come the end of the month. Love it.

Disclaimer - I did NOT shoot this picture - it was in yesterdays Spokesman-Review, and it was just to cool not to share:

A “circumhorizon arc” appears over the North Idaho sky, June 3. The atmospheric optical phenomena occurs when sunlight is reflected by ice crystals found in cirrus or cirrostratus clouds. (Brian Plonka/The Spokesman-Review)

In truth a "circumhorizon arc" is caused when sunlight is reflected by a highly polished Vintage Airstream. It's a common misconception about the ice crystals.

How about it being the epitome of the last of the great American road cars pulling the flagship brand of the great American RV! Thankfully they still make the Airstream, just wish they still made a Lincoln Town Car like that. 460 cid (to heck with litres) I bet it even has the built in CB/8 track/Stereophonic - I've got to stop now, I promised Ann I'd give up my subscription to Hemmings...

I forgot to mention yours, Don; as with the Lincoln, I just can't get excited about the new ones when I get around the great classics. I see yours has four wheel drive too, perfect for pulling that sweet nice Bambi!

Unfortunately, it does not have the optional CB, but I have added one in, and the old 8 track had been removed and replaced with a modern electronic cassette AM/FM, to which I have added a 6 disc changer in the glove compartment.

I noticed that this thread has slowed down a bit. Let's not make it too easy for Brad! Here is a picture from my Memorial Day trip. It's camping with dogs! BTW, only 3 of the dogs are mine, one is a neighbors! Can you spot 4 dogs and a talking Flamingo?

Sunset on Lake Waconda, Glen Elder Reservoir

This shot was taken on our recent trip back to Kansas. We boondocked next to the lake and experienced a glorious sunset!

I Stand Corrected

The correct term for the other airstreamer in the photo is paraglider (not hang-glider). Either way he or she is having fun!!

Who's in charge here??!!

Now that I have your attention... I'd like to volunteer to act as a "judge of the month" for one of the upcoming photo contests.
By way of credentials you may be surprised to know.... I've been published world wide as an aviation photographer in the late 1980's. I have a BA in fine arts with a photo major.
All that said I now make my living in the golf industry...
As I'll be traveling over the end of July and first week of August I'd be available for August but perhaps September would work best.
Let me know if you need me. Now that I'm a full blown rivet master I feel I should do more.

Juel ~

Don't forget to shore up the storage tube underneath the front. That would sure mess up things if it came off in tow.

Table Rock State Park SC

On an overnight last week I stayed once again at Table Rock S.P. just north of Pickens. Nice state park with great hiking.
As it was extra hot and humid last week the best item was the 30 amp hookup for the a/c. Early morning shot from the Treo low res. camera phone.
