July 2024 Photo Challenge

A big thank you to SteveNDebbie for the honor of giving the July photo challenge a shot. My wife and I love a campfire. It so relaxing at the end of the day to just sit around the fire, relax, discuss the day and plan what the next day will bring. My favorite campfires have been wood but have transitioned to propane in more recent years as so many places have banned wood campfires.

For this month, Show me your Campfire! The RV does not need to be in the picture. Wood, propane, Solo stove, firepit or whatever. Just show me how you make it happen and if there is a story behind the campfire it's even better.

The first picture is a campfire from our first cross country trip in 1983 at Crater Lake National Park. The last, came from the 2018 trip mentioned in my June Photo story. We snagged a campsite at Dessert View CG at the Grand Canyon National Park with no reservations. I couldn't tell you how many campfires we've had in between! Let's see yours!

GOUSC, congratulations on winning the June challenge; well deserved!

I’ll toss this out although I guess you’d call in a bonfire, not a campfire. It’s from Alumalina 2023 where we met up with some old friends and made several new ones. If you haven’t attended yet, I highly recommend it!

I took several shots, one with long exposure which produced an interesting effect.

I remember that one Jeff! I was waiting to see how big the marshmallows would be.

Congrats GOUSC! Those chairs are a blast from the past! Love ‘em!!!
Jeffmc306, holy moly!
This is just my little solo stove. Its the Mesa XL which is the perfect size for me. I can use pellets and not have to worry about invasive species and dont have wait too long for it to burn out when Im done. Plus its super portable!
Love this theme! Cant wait to see more!

Thanks to Jeffmc306 and Bearstream01 to kicking off the July Photo challenge. We have the mother of all bonfires and the most personal campfire to start with. Surely there are some tweeners out there.

July 4th is coming up. Maybe some of you have a nice campfire from a July 4th party or fireworks event. If not, maybe you have a possibility over this week.

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday week and has some photos to post!

3 Places 3 Different Fires

This is another fun photo idea. Who doesn't like a nice outdoor fire.
Here are a few of ours. From Home Natural Gas Fire to a Ring Fire at Beaver Lake to a Boondocking Fire on Taylor Reservoir in CO.

Great theme! Here are a few of our memorable campfires.

1. Ten years ago we had taken our family to Kenya as a team from our church to meet our Kenyan partners for a building project we helped fund. This is our son and Harriet, one of the pastor’s daughters who was having a birthday party. We had a marshmallow roast, something they had never done before.

Not a photo but very cool. We're in Dawson City, YT and on our way to Eagle, AK. My wife's family has ties to Eagle since 1901.

Thanks to everyone for the recent pictures. Keep them coming!

I know someone out there has a nice group campfire from a rally or a caravan. Every time we are at either of these someone fires up an impromptu campfire as an invitation for someone to join them.

until the late 50's, the fishing bridge campsite was the largest one in Yellowstone park
it was closed and is no nature meadows for the wild animals

you can see many airstreams in this photo

Thanks to everyone posting their campfire pictures to date. The month is half over so plenty of time for others to chime in. I know it’s hot outside right now but let’s see some of your campfire blasts from the past!
