July 2023 photo contest
So as the winner of the June photo contest, I get to pick the July contest. So in honor of Wally's birthday and because he was the master of boondocking in an airstream (middle of Africa anyone?), this month's challenge is boondocking. I know it has been done before, but this summer is in full swing and lots of you are enjoying your Airstreams outside of campgrounds. Preferably if you had to get it slightly dirty!

Boondocking with my parents in the heart of the Yukon, about a few miles north of Mayo, YT and a few miles south of Keno, YT

NWT is on my bucket list, but we won't be going in our Argosy. Looks nice!

Fly in to Yellowknife, NWT or fly in to Whitehorse,YT rent an rv from Fraser RV and drive. It will save the wear and tear on your unit.

We always have our Four Wheel Camper on our truck, so we are set. We fulltime in the Argosy, and go camping with just the truck. Planning on lots of Arctic exploring in the next couple of years.

Sounds like a great plan. I had thought about that but never did it.

Boondocking
Harvest hosts - if that qualifies.
a) Cold morning in Michigan - and yes, after 2 miles of wet gravel road that is a lot of dirt!
b) Really hot late June afternoon in Wisconsin - all awnings and fans deployed but no match for full sun, so instead we enjoyed the cool in the cow barn.

We love Harvest Hosts and I think that definitely qualifies as boondocking. We have only been to one so far that had power, and it was very nice to have in Iowa in the summer.
I love seeing Airstreams with a little dirt to show that they are not just campground queens.

Nice! I think we drove back there with just our TV to check it out. I recall a few ruts in the road but not too bad. Looking at your map I think this is the spot we checked out. As you are driving toward the park entrance sign, is the the dirt road to the left and you enter between 2 fence posts? Not too far of a drive until the road parallels the ravine?

We had a few neat boondocking spots in Canada last summer. 1std pic - Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland (NL). 2nd and 3rd Pics - Bonavista Municipal Park, NL - 3 nights free with whale viewing from our site every morning and afternoon. Ever better views with a half mile walk to the lighthouse for whale and puffins.

Yep, that’s the drive. We were back in 2021 but it just rain and was muddy and it was a lot more crowded because of it being Labor Day weekend. We ended up staying in the national park campground instead.
