The first photo was our family (Ford van with boat on top) and our friends in the Dodge with their home made aluminum camper. 1965

The second and third photos are our 1964 Safari before and after a little polish.

Interestingly, he gave up the teen idol jag -- and became a paramedic, then a police officer. Kudos to him for that.

Anyway, this is such an interesting photo contest. Love the retro element.

Clearly the dogs gave up and the cat won out [emoji28]. Shiniest Airstream I’ve ever seen! And the van reminds me of my dad’s Ford work van that morphed into our TV to tow the camel camper. My brother and I got to ride on the old Greyhound seats bolted to a piece of plywood for the instant second row seats. Thanks for the pics, Batman

Thank You.
The cat is Doc Holiday and he thinks he is a dog.
The shiny Air Stream is how I shave in the morning. lol
The van was my dads work vehicle, he modified it, he built a platform behind the rear seat with storage underneath and a bed (when needed) on top.

Come to think of it, we also had a homemade platform bed in the back of the Ford van for our second trip west as kids. But that was a vast improvement from the first trip where he built a platform for the Chevy Impala’s back seat floor to make a bed for my 9 year old brother to lay across the seat and for me (age 6) to lay were your feet go. Only problem was that you could never sit on the seat with your feet down. It’s a long way from Ohio to Colorado and back with nowhere to dangle your legs [emoji51]

Looks like we have two more weeks for the July Photography Contest. Let’s see some more photographs of your then and now. Maybe you have a photo of your beginnings in camping or a compare and contrast of the way camping culture has changed. We were struck by how small our 25’ Safari looked beside other trailers! Wasn’t there a time when the 25’ would have been considered an extravagant sized TT? Do we really need bigger trailers and then bigger and more costly tow vehicles?Click image for larger version

We have really enjoyed your pics so far. While it will be a challenge for us to choose, the real fun is in your sharing your stories [emoji4]

I usually find the monthly photo contest thread by searching the thread title, for example "July 2019 Photo* Contest" (or photography). I suspect a lot of other members also find the monthly photo thread this way. For whatever reason the search the title does not bring up the July contest. It does bring up the June contest and other past monthly photo contests however. Is this a glitch? I have seen this happen several times before. I suspect a lot of members will also have this problem and may cut down on participation.

Could a mod jump in on this?

Anybody else see this as a problem?

Hey Lumatic! Surely you have a photo or two? [emoji6]

Hi Steve,
I will enter photos of one of my son's rigs. His original Thompson unit and then the luxurious 67 GC. He spends the summers in the bush. Maybe you can tell. Both photos sent to me by him. Jim

Wow Jim! So which does he enjoy more, the “Then” or “Now” ? He’s definitely not afraid of a little mud! Thank you for sharing his rigs. Those pics are so cool, Bobbie

Start with a hybrid Shamrock and now with an Airstream 26 RB

Hello,

We started camping in 2005 with a hybrid trailer Shamrock (photo taken at the rest area of 87 near Schroon Lake, NY) and today we have an airstream flying cloud 26 rb (photo taken at the national park of Mauricie, Quebec, Canada).
