Such impressive animals.

We saw a mama and her cub at Glacier a few years back.

We traveled 2,000 miles in hopes of spotting a bear. No luck. I would have better luck 5 miles from work, locals in Vicksburg MS have one running around downtown! A coworker saw it at her moms house, it made local news last night.

Nothing as impressive as your photos though.

Bears where? we traveled to Tetons, Yellowstone, Glacier NP in Montana, Calgary , Banff, to Victoria, WA state, Olympic NP, Oregon, Redwoods, Grand Canyon back home to Oklahoma. Went 5K miles over 6 weeks. We did see some of God's most beautiful places. We saw many deer, moose, elk, sea lions, and no bears. If you have not seen the Tetons, Lake Louise, Cascades, Arches, Mt Ranier; you need to put them on your bucket list. We could have stayed a month in Oregon. Happy camping!!

On our trip to Alaska this past year, when driving through northern British Columbia, in 1 day, we saw 17 bear song side road. On that same day we also saw 2 big herds of Buffalo, 1 fox, a flock of Cranes, dozens of Elk, and a couple moose. Then we went for for about 5 days seeing absolutely no wildlife. The bus ride in to Denali provide views of several different wild animals.

Rode the Harley from Michigan to Yellowstone a few years ago.
While in the park I came a round the curve to find a momma & 2 baby grizzlys off the road about 20 yards.
The Ranger was there. I had to leave bike and get in the rangers car til the Bears left. I was very happy the Ranger was there. He perhaps saved my bacon.

Some early Grizzly researchers (the Craigheads?) described the Griz as an even-tempered animal: angry all the time!

They weigh 1,000 pounds, have 4" claws, reflexes like cats, run as fast as a horse, swim, and climb trees. What's your plan for an encounter?

[QUOTE --------------------- What's your plan for an encounter?[/QUOTE]

My plan would be to quickly look around to see who else was in the vicinity, and after choosing your company, you just have to be able to outrun them!
I have never had a chance to prove this theory in bear country, but always wondered why the young/fit people seem to follow me through the back wood trails.

Denali Grizzly Bear

Carry bear spray and know how to use it. It's proven to be the best protection in the very rare chance that you will have a problem.

But by all means, go see them.
