With apologies to John Denver (and WV - beautiful place in summer), Fort Desoto, FL is "Almost heaven..... " as a winter place.

Thanks to the BEST Brother on Law that any one could have, we have spent wonderful "winter place" in Panacea FL. Seven acres - .1 mile to bike trail, .5 to boat ramp, 2 miles to a dog friendly beach, and no traffic lights nearby!

We and tree frogs love it there!

Just for fun…our favorite winter place. A week ago at Dauphin Island, AL. No Airstream but our MDX TV serving as a people hauler of six adults (including my in-laws) on Saturday morning getting ready to head back to Ohio. The temps that night got down to 22 degrees with wind chill of 5. We were told by the rental company to keep the outside faucets running slow to keep the water lines from freezing.
Ice tree was in the morning and frozen MDX the afternoon before.

THis has been a tough one, but the pictures are really fun! In the end, I'm very glad that I included not just a main theme (Winter place), but also the additional criterion (rule of thirds). Without the extra criterion, it would have been nearly impossible to choose! So here we go.

Of all of the entries, four in particular met BOTH criteria: Winter place and rule of thirds. THese are shown below:



So now I'm down to choosing the runner up and the winner. A VERY hard call! In the end, I am choosing JSCorbin's shot as the winner and ghaag's shot as the runner up!



Congratulations on all four! They make me want to pull out now!

I just found out, and will give some thought to the next contest. My wife and I are camping in our Airstream now, and I don’t have access to my photo library at home. I’ll come up with something.
