this is not the best photo, but I took it today & it's the only Dec one I have so far of RAQUEL (our 1968 Safari 22' Landyacht) but I wanted to share it w/you as it depicts my excitement & worries too, over her new windows & future fixins... sadly the no-longer employee of the authorized dealer ordered 1 too many windows for her (we needed 4 installed & had the orig glass for the largest one... that's the one he duped) so now we have an extra window & less money (because they installed the new one)... hopefully we can resolve this before departure... but anyhoo... here she is... glamorized w/glass ... sigh... I luvher
what over the hill?
we don't know yet

Important News!
Hi folks,
What a busy night last night!
First:
Inland Andy has, once again, graciously offered to support this contest – Decembers winner will get a door prize – one that will be able to be claimed by contacting Andy directly after the winner has been announced.
Thanks Andy for your continuing support – you and your longstanding contribution to this forum is more than appreciated.
Second:
You may recall that little Diplomatic Dilemma about Santa's entry earlier this month .....
Well – he dropped by again ....
I don't know how the guy does it – you'd think he and his reindeer might be a little worn out after all their travels! .....
..... but no ..... other than the most severe case of wind-burn one can possibly imagine .... he was full of energy ..... nothing less than "rarin' to go" ..... and that glint in his eyes you hear about so much? ..... jeepers .... it's real! .....
Seems when he was crossing the Himalayas he had a bit of spare time .....
..... and got to reflecting on his entry in this months contest ....
..... after considerable introspection (his word – not mine) he came to the realization that his entry was really a bit unfair – after all – no one else on the globe had the opportunity to pick any hill they wanted – anywhere .....
So ......
...... he withdrew his entry ..... (What a relief! – I had been really sweating about how to deal with this!)
But .....
..... he did have an alternate idea ..... (Oh oh - I started sweating again)
He'd like to help judge the contest .....
..... wants to put his unbiased knowledge of the planet's terrain to good use ......
H'mmm – I didn't think this was a bad idea ...... sounded pretty good actually ...... so I stopped sweating and made another executive decision ......
..... Santa and I will be spending January 1st together
..... picking a winner
He did have one condition though ......
..... I guess all that flying makes you thirsty .....
..... and he is pretty much sick of cookies and milk .....
..... so he made a specific request ..... one case of rum .... two cases of eggnog .... (I started sweating again).
So .....
Get your pictures in folks – not much time left!
Jay

Our trailer is down below at the Town RV park. It was about a two hour hike up to this point above. Click on image to make it larger. Happy New Year!

December 2010 Photo Contest - Drum Roll Please
Well – hello folks.
We got through the selection process yesterday – but what a day. Once the fallout of a New Years Eve was able to be cleared from our heads – the family (my wife and oldest son) – with the help of Santa of course – were able to short-list some terrific pictures – but this was no easy task .....
I had placed all the pictures into a bit of a PowerPoint presentation – added some music (Long and Winding Road) – and then the entries did their own work – turned out pretty good if I do say so myself – even brought a tear to Santa's eye (the guy gets pretty mushy with a bit of rum in him .....) .....
But the presentation was the easy part .....
Once it began the debate was on .....
After the first round the "short-list" wasn't too short ......
What was obvious was that the spirit of Airstreaming adventure and exploration is not only alive and well – it was very visible in each of these pictures.
So ....
After considerable, lengthy and sometimes "vigorous" discussion, consensus was finally reached .....
Winner and runners up will be posted momentarily! .....
Jay

The Winner!
Happy New Year and Congratulations to INSIDE OUT! You are the Winner of the 2010 Airforums December Photo Contest!
A terrific picture! This was the one picture that we had absolute and total consensus on – a consensus that was immediate and without discussion – just a gorgeous shot – and fits the theme like a glove ..... a bunch of Airstreams doing what they do best - getting ready to find out what is over the next hill ..... and the hill after that! ......
Your door prize can be claimed by contacting Andy at Inland RV directly!
And ....
..... you now have the pleasure of carrying the contest forward through January of 2011!
Thanks!
Jay (and company) .....

The Runners Up!
Happy New Year and Congratulations to the Runners Up!
..... these are NOT (despite the file numbers) in any particular order! ......
Zeppelinium: wow – a lone Airstream exploring a big, stunning chunk of country – just doesn't get much better.
Eubank: a haunting picture (seems crooked! – but haunting none-the-less!) – what a great sky
Melody Ranch: the picture that says a 1000 words – this one was a real sleeper – we kept coming back to it - again and again - and wondering what that trailer has seen through its life! .....
Inside Out: another great picture – you know what you are doing!
There are many more pictures that could (and should) be mentioned here – we really enjoyed every single one of them – and speculated a lot on the stories behind each one (even the one in the Christmas tree!) – to make a long story short – the afternoon was quite a hoot ....
Congratulations to all! and thanks!
Jay (and company)

Whew!
It's all over but the crying ....
Well – almost .....
One more responsibility ......
Gotta get Santa home ......
The guy got right out of shape and had to spend the night ......
Still in no condition to take to the air .....
Guess I'll have to see if I can fly the Polar Clipper myself ......
Jay

Shari.
Please PM your address and I will send you the gift.
As a suggestion, how about "Airstream reflections"?
That is, to take a photo of the Airstream, that reasonably shows a nice reflection of something else that can also be recognized.
