Hi, new member here. I want to register my 22 foot, '59 Flying Cloud and I can't find a VIN, just a plate with an ID that reads 229017 It also says Jackson Center Ohio next to the ID number, under "Flying Cloud", but then under the "Airstream" logo it has an address 1755 No. Main St. Los Angeles, Calif. Is this enough for registration or do I need a 17 number VIN? Thanks for help.
PS also have a '76 20' Argosy.
Don’t know about the laws of registration in Vermont, but here in Texas the 6 number ID on the tag was sufficient along with the weight of the trailer. Yours is Ohio built and appears to be the 17th FC built at their plant that year. In short, the serial number is on the tag. There is no VIN number. You can go to “CaptainJones’ Flying Cloud Registry” if you want to list yours on the registry. Bubba

"229017" is the official serial number assigned to the trailer when it was built by Airstream. It decodes as:
22 = 22 foot
9 = 1959
017 = sequence number, the 17th one built for the 1959 model year.
In any case, you will not find any other VIN.
