Where do you keep the bikes?

I'm looking for some feedback from some of the active Basecamp owners. Do you utilize the rear door to store your bikes? Do mountain bike handle bars fit? I assume the road bikes fit fine?

Thanks in advance

I personally keep them in the bed of my TV truck.
But the concept of the basecamp is yes to have the option to put them through the back door.

go to Google (images) , and type in the following and you can see some photos

"airstream basecamp mountain bike inside"

We keep four bikes in the back and load them through the rear door. Two adult and two kids. We use two packing blankets to protect the cushions and bungee cords to tie them together. We can still access the bathroom while on the road. It’s been easier than I imagined and having the bikes inside and protected has been great!

I constructed some fork mount holders that fit snuggly in the D rings inside our Basecamp X (16'). Keeps everything in place. Apologies for the sideways photo, not sure how to rotate it

Our set up

We keep our bikes on a bedrack. There is certainly room inside for two bikes if you used a fork mount system. We usually travel with other stuff inside the trailer. Bedding, screen house, genny, etc.

Arrow Utility Bumper

I stumbled into this utility bumper at https://www.ezrecreationalracks.com/...yBumper20.html. A 16' is available on the website (you can search for it) but the link is to a Basecamp 20 version. Looks interesting but at $1,400 it looks pricey for what you get.

A bike rack would be easy.

Yes, it is not cheap. But having a 2" hitch receiver on the Basecamp is really just a huge utility feature that is much needed, imho. Ira has one for the 16' already and is working on one for the 20'.

I used my old Yakima Dr. Tray that I used to have on my truck and it worked just fine from CA to MT and back again (around 3000 miles).

Yup... was linked in the post above mine. Be aware, it's not cheap. Build quality and the well-thought-out DIY install process is excellent though. Ira did a really good job, imho.

https://www.ezrecreationalracks.com/ (16 is available, 20 coming soon)

Here is the installation video for the 16 to give you an idea of what is involved:

I keep my table posts mounted and with some bungees and blankets I hitch a bike on each side of them - so far so good.

It occurred to me that a receiver under the back door could also be used for the "Step" sold by WeatherTech and others including HF.
