Stuck table leg fix

I know that most here would prefer to see the legs slide out from the table top easily and be done with the issue.

I have tried paraffin which worked sporadically. I have tapped around the leg and the fitting which worked with some effort and more time than I wanted to spend with what should be a simple slam dunk dismantling. I have even polished both faces to mixed reviews.

Here is my final fix. I will spend no more time futzing with the legs.

Sears had a 4" and a 6" strap wrench set on sale for $7.99 so I bought it. The 4" works so far. It is small enough to stow easily. I might bring both of them on our next trip just in case the 4" balks, but I think it will be all I need.

I've also had some trouble removing the table top from the bed height legs. I've found that tightening the legs past the audible click while simultaneously lifting the table top and moving side to side with small motions works pretty well.

This has been a problem for us as well. We were able to get one of the tables off using the twisting method mentioned but the other is just stuck. Looks like it's time to pickup some more tools.

2017 Basecamp - 16.5" pedestal leg threaded lock twisted and broke when trying to remove. Does anyone know manufacturer of the part so I can order a replacement? Airstream won't sell directly to me.

Thanks. - Dave

I'm waiting on our BC16X to arrive so I haven't experience this problem yet. My thought is to clean the male and female parts with brake cleaner or similar now-residue cleaner and coat everything with Johnsons or MinWax paste wax. Make sure that it is thoroughly dry and then buff off all of the residue before assembly. This has worked for similar situations where you don't want anything to collect dirt. Good luck and thanks for this discussion, I probably would have stuck one too before realizing the potential problem.

Hi - my wife and I are so tired of dealing with the table legs. Everything else is smooth and easy when we convert to partial dinette - not these. I had to get a bigger "hammer" - the pipe strap, it works but it can get be a battle. I got tired of fussing w/ the ratchets on the bottom and removed them, no problem yet. I keep some non-oil lube handy. Cross yer fangers....
