Stabilizing Basecamp 16x

I am a new Basecamp owner/user. We have slep in the Basecamp 15 nights. When we get to camp and do the setup I have the front of trailer jack stand and the two wheels. Then we lower the rear stabilizers. Whenever we are in the trailer we can feel every movement. Rolling over in bed getting in and out of the trailer. It is not like the trailer is moving, but we can feel the movement.

I am just wondering if this is “normal” or if I am doing something wrong. Can anything be done to add stabilization on the front of the camper.

Again, this is not a feeling of being unsafe, just feeling all movement in camper.

Thanks,
Scott

We always had some movement in our Basecamp. We found a couple of things helped decrease the movement. First was to put the stabilizers down harder ie with more pressure. You have to be careful because they are not the strongest stabilizers, but they can take more pressure than you might initially think.
Secondly, we used several lynx levelers so that the stabilizers didn’t have to extend as far. As a result, they were spread wider than at full extension presented a wider more stable base to the trailer.
Hope you are loving your Basecamp. We loved ours but sold it for a bigger trailer when we retired.
Btw, you didn’t by chance buy it in southern Indiana at a dealer?

Thank you for the information.

We live in Nashville and got the Basecamp there. We love it.

I will look into the lynx levelers and see what it will do to help stabliize the camper.

We added "Snap Pads" to the back stabilizers and use two screw type jack stands in the front on the frame under to propane tank cover - it's rock solid now. Seems like most the movement was from the single point of contact under the trailer tongue so the jack stands really helped.

I find that ours (2023 16x) doesn't move or wobble at all. I use the included tongue jack and I have an old Ryobi impact drill with the correct size socket to quickly push down the rear stabilizer jacks. I don't force it at all. We carry a small level in our toolkit to check front to back and we usually adjust it with the stabilizers. But I can't detect any movement at all in it.

So I just purchased a new Basecamp REI and felt the front power jack feels a bit wobbly, making the unit overall feel unstable even with the stabilizer firmly in place. I know this is not normal because i traded in 2021 Basecamp X with the hand crank jack and the unit always felt solid.
So my solution is downgrading to Hand crank Jack, which will be more reliable in the long haul. Plus with my 4Runner it will allow me to open the back hatch without unhitching.

Yes,adding a pair of screw stabalizers to the front is the best recommendation.
That’s how we kept our vintage Bambi stabalized.

2024 Basecamp 16X Stabilizer bolts loose

Hi,
New to the forum and just purchased our first trailer, 2024 Basecamp 16X. While we really like the trailer, I noticed that the inboard stabilizer jack bolts on both stabilizers will not stay tight. In fact, they both fell out when I retracted the jacks. After taking a closer look, the two outboard bolts are drilled/tapped into the frame. the inboard bolts are only drilled through the aluminum skin. While there are drill marks/scuffs on the underlying frame, there is no drilled/taped hole to attach the bolt to. Is this normal, or did a step get missed at the factory? Dealer stated they will need the trailer for minimum 3 weeks to fix the issue. Not a good start to being an Airstream owner. Not opposed to fixing the issue myself as I can't in good conscience drive down the road with bolts that will fall out at some point. Any advice would be welcome, including directing me to a more relevant post if there is one.
