Hi Doug,

Yes you could wire the solar charger directly to the batteries, and you could add a switch to disconnect if you don’t want or need to charge the batteries.

The key is not to allow the solar to provide power to your 12V trailer without having the batteries in the circuit as well.

Hi Walter,

Thanks for the advice. I will plan to wire in a switch. Would you recommend the switch be placed on the solar in side of the controller or on the fused side solar out to battery side of the controller? Also, does it matter which of the two batteries I connect the solar charge? I believe the batteries are wired in parallel format…the pictures are earlier in thread for confirmation.
