Mounting a TV in Basecamp
I want to install a TV to stream movies. Since locations are limited, I thought this would be a good spot. It would be on a full-motion mount so I could still access the cubbies.
Since I haven't bought the Basecamp yet, can anyone tell me how wide the bathroom wall is (see red square)? I heard a 27-inch TV would fit without protruding into the walkway. Is this true?

We had the same questions when we got our 16x. We ended up just using a laptop. You might have more options for mounting a tv in your 20’ than we have in our 16’ but we couldn’t imagine a better setup than the laptop.

I made a suction cup bracket thingy that hangs my tablet from the ceiling then use my Bose blue tooth speakers in the rear upper baskets.
Home theater on a budget.

I'll be working full-time from my laptop. So having it double as my TV makes sense, but was hoping to kick back with a screen bigger than 13 inches.

I think I'm the only person in the world that doesn't own an iPad. So I did consider a similar setup, but buying an iPad would cost more than buying a small TV. Trying to keep the year long adventure cost down as much as possible.

We decided to go with a projector. We used command hooks on the right side of the fridge and one to the left of the door, and put up a white shower curtain. Got a cheap projector from a computer recycling store for $25 and enjoy movie time on the big screen.

TV mount 20x
We use. A Sea Sucker mount (2 large suction cups with a flexible arm between) to attach a laptop in that same area you pointed out in your photo. We have a 20x.

I've always assumed home projectors have terrible quality as compared to TVs and you have to sit in the dark to enjoy them. Is that not true anymore?

I have seen some Youtube videos where they install an articulating mounting in the same location you have outlined. I am still searching for the best option. I do like the suction mount from the ceiling idea, and since i have a couple of extra suction cups from my Moonshade, i will MacGyver a set up this coming season. Our Current set up is a 27" monitor/tv that I use as a work monitor during the day and a tv at night. We set up on the front table and enjoy tv from the back bed.

Ours is one pulled from a business or class room and is nice and bright with a great picture. Besides it is for casual viewing when we need a little down time while we are out enjoying the travels. Picture quality is great and plenty bright. Also, in the Basecamp, making a dark room is easy any where if needed
To be fair I have never used a "home" or consumer grade projector. I can't say if the quality is up there with those intended for commercial settings.

Here's a crazy idea that I'm a little nervous to try because it requires drilling, but may work best!
There are studs behind the aluminum shell. Use a stud finder to see if a stud exits on the wall between the rear door and bathroom wall. If so, double check with Airstream to see if there is any wiring in that area. If you're sure you won't damage any wiring, carefully drill to mount it there. Drill only into the stud and not through the exterior shell obviously.
Otherwise, the original location that I was thinking of on the bathroom wall could only fit at 24-inch TV. Sitting 10-12 feet away would be a bit of an eye strain.

My wife and I are shopping Basecamp 20x now, and the main reason is the ability to have a large room feel for a few adults in a small camper for nasty weather. I have thought about a TV on the opposite wall (curbside) in the corner by the door so it could be seen from the dinnette, the kitchen and the bed.

Wherever you decide to mount it, please post pics! Would love to get some ideas of what can be done.

Cautionary TV 16
Ok I confess…. I drilled through the BC16X bathroom wall. It don’t take much. I wanted a swing mount vice fixed so…… there I was with my handy dewalt. Now bathroom has a small circular mirror mounted a little low to cough cough shave in shower. In retrospect VHB mount no drill. In my defense I swear I put hands on shower wall and cabinets wall. I too said, what ho mate, there’s a small gap. No studs found. I mounted a 27” LG Oled monitor w Apple TV driving it. Used Sonos Beam as the speaker. My cautionary tale is solely meant to be a “I screwed up (get it)” so you don’t have to. VHB w adhesion promoter would have been just fine in retrospect.

The bathroom wall material is only 1/2" thick. The best thing is remove a screw from a coat hook and use that as a max length gauge.
