First Trip with my New 2017 Basecamp

Ocho’s Adventures #1
(PS hard to figure out photos on this forum ..sorry)

Forward backward
... forward backward
To the left to the left, to the right to the right

A month of trying to code-break the byzantine reservation structure for state and county parks to basque in the California sun amongst the Covid campers, like Austin Powers in his little cart, it took me an hour to get out of the warehouse. Some rotten bastard parked in front of my unit creating a tight turn to get the Airstream out. Two wheel trailers are Squirrley.

Only 45 miles north of the warehouse, El Capitan commands the coastline poking into the Pacific, possibly the finest right wave in Cali on a west swell.

Imagine 1850 - what California used to look like - beautiful rolling hills of oak trees down to the ocean. Miles of empty beach.

Site 56 of 144
Spurs they are called - each an asphalt human storage slot
The usual over trodden grass sand fire pit
But we’re here on the edge of the Pacific

Food - check
camp gear - check
surfing gear - check

Whoops forgot the doo hicky that lowers the two stabilizers on either side of the back of the trailer. It keeps it from too much Rollin and Rockin’

Check list …
next time it would be good to have a checklist

RV’s
Gearheads (I fit in)
Massive boxes transform into luxury condos
Pop outs, hang outs, toy haulers
Guy pulled in next to me - Ford F 350 crewcab - 5 bikes piled in back hauling a big box - wife and three kids
Both sides popped out - kitchen and master wing
Both ends cantilevered kid bunks
With firewood storage below
After setting his special, elevating, leveling tire chocks - organizing the BBQ gear
Tool box
Power drill

My Rig
Some call it a “toaster”
Looks like a horse trailer to me. - Willllllburrrrr
Basically a bed, bath and kitchen wrapped up as the ultimate tiny house approx 112 sq ft
Surprisingly works great
Decided to call her - “Ludwella”
The white marks on the ground are where someone laid out diatomaceous earth around the tires to keep the ants out - new tip !

Surprisingly capable inside with a tiny kitchen
The ultimate Tiny House
About 112 square feet

Ate, swam, read, surfed

Practice parking lot
Decided to stop in a shopping center parking lot on the way home to practice backing up
The homeless dudes got a big kick out of it and I learned a lot
Back home and parked in 15 minutes !

Yolo
“You only live once”

Not really a stogie guy but seemed like the perfect time

Groovy Guard house

Trestle train bridge - riveted steel connectors (vs. welded or bolted) probably early 1900’s
Some great train rides along the California coast
