fan vent cover won't open

Just getting ready to leave in morning on XC trip, and when tried to open fan vent and turn on while loading, it won't open. The black handle tightens to right but when try to turn left to open is spins. Tried tightening the screw, and took it out and screwed back in but doesn't seem to be working. Worked fine when closed it about 2 weeks ago.



Is this an easy fix or do we need to look for dealer on way out?

I have had ours apart several times. Just remove the entire frame from the ceiling to see what is going on behind the crank. There is no caulk or anything that you have to worry about. Once you pull that out you can get to the actually lift transmission. Not much to that but maybe you can see something out of the ordinary.

Eventually I just ended up retrofitting ours with the Fantastic power lift with rain sensor and thermostat. Well worth the money!
