Basecamp X storage, insurance cost

Hi, I am thinking to buy a basecamp x and I was wondering how much will the insurance be? Approximate.

Also, will the X or non X fit in a typical 2 car garage?

I am planning to tow it with Audi Q5 TDI, anyone using this vehicle to tow? And issues?

Thanks,
Sorin

Ins cost is relative with your area...best thing to do is call and give them the vin of what you are thinking of purchasing and get a quote. As far as fitting in a garage it will probably be too tall in a standard size. Hope this helps!

Hi

Since we don't know what state or part of a state you are in, it's very tough to guess what the insurance would be. Something in the $200 to $3,000 per year range is a pretty good bet. Past that, it is very much a "that depends" sort of thing.

Insurance is going to have multiple parts:

1) Coverage on the road
2) Coverage when in storage
3) Coverage for the trailer
4) Coverage for the contents of the trailer

Just as with a car or truck, the amount of coverage for things like liability varies from state to state. You also are free to go past the state minimums for that sort of coverage. Unique to covering an Airstream is the replacement value of the trailer. Most "normal" policies will severely under-estimate the needed replacement coverage. Pushing things up to have full coverage is not going to make the policy any cheaper ......

We have a new 2020 BCX and insurance in Louisville, Ky is about $200 year. We are storing at a self storage lot now but doubt it would fit through a standard height garage door. BTW we absolutely love the trailer.

Spec's for the BC and BCX are 8'-9" and 9' respectively with the AC... So a 9 foot door might fit a regular basecamp (Depending if your door hands down into the opening at all), but for an X you'd need a 10 foot door.

I've seen other trailer owners have a second set of smaller wheels to fit them into their garages, but those trailers topped out around 7-8ft in height.
