BaseCamp at 12,000 Feet!

Just thought I'd post some pics of the BaseCamp crossing the Continental Divide on Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park.

We set up camp off grid above Fraser, CO and got in a couple of mountain bike rides on the excellent trails around Winter Park. The sun was out both days. We charged devices, ran lights, water pump, the tank heater kicked on in the middle of the night (cold at 9,500 feet!) and the battery never fell below 95% the entire trip! We had two days of showers, toilet, coffee and drinking water returned home with 13% in the water tank. We could have been a little more conservative with the water but I think I'll carry an extra 5 gallon can next time out.

We hiked Timber Lake in RMNP on the way home - 9 miles. It was great to come back to the BC in the parking lot, wash up, have a coffee, put my feet up and rest for a few before hitting the road. Lovin' it!

PS: I'm having same fridge issues as everyone else. Hopeful we get a fix soon!

Great pics, ColoradoBCer, I just spent a month in Colorado mainly boondocking and it is wonderful, thank you for sharing your trip. The continental divide is somethin, ain't it? These are great images.

Basecamps are havin all sortsa fridge issues so maybe it's that but I should tell ya that above 6k' these fridges shart chokin in propane mode. Above 8k' they really have trouble lighting, even if they are 'workin' as the manufacturer intended.

Hope you can get it taken care if though. I'm looking forward to seein more of your adventures.

Nice, we are in the process of a major downsizing and the Basecamp is on our short list. Thanks for the photos, keep us posted on your travels.

Looking good!

Hi ColoradoBCer:

Your Basecamp looks right at home on the Continental Divide. Those solar panels will serve you well and keep you charged up not only in Colorado, with our 300+ days of sunshine, but throughout the Rocky Mountain West with its typically clear skies. Enjoy the heck out of your easy to use Basecamp: Tows Great, Less Fiddling.
