Base Camp Rear Door Latch Improvement

The rear door on our 2023 BC16X was difficult to latch on top, even on the delivery walk-around we were told that it needed to be slammed to insure that it would latch. The only way we could tell if it latched on top for sure was to push on it from the inside. The problem I found was burrs on both the locking bolt and the strike plate. I used a fine gunsmithing stone to remove the burrs and put a very slight radius on the tip of the bolt and on the edge of the strike plate. Make sure that you don't change the profile of anything except the small radius. Now to latch the door, close it gently so nothing latches. Then push on the top first and you will hear the top bolt latch and then the same on the bottom. The latch on the side door had the same problem.

Also helps a lot to put lithium grease on the locking surfaces- don’t have to slam mine

The lube didn't help much before I smoothed it up because the burrs would prevent the bolt from reliably latching. Yes, the lube is a must.
