Applying numbers

I can't see anyplace to attach our club numbers! Has anyone does so, and where?

I think we will be doing ours on the front above the LP tank cover and below the window. There isn't really an ideal spot.

I saw a picture on Airstream Addicts FB page this weekend, they'd installed the numbers to the upper right of the rear door at the top of the wall. Didn't see a picture of any numbers in front, though. Show us a picture when you do get them mounted. The instructions that came with the numbers don't emphasize it quite enough to me, so I'll say that a spray bottle with 4-5 drops of dish soap and water is a huge help when installing. I didn't use the rag method to apply the soapy water, just the spray bottle. And use plenty of it, it'd be hard to use too much.

The Wally Bayam (sp?) club; when you buy an airstream you can join the club, register, and get sent a unique number for your rig. I sort of rolled my eyes, until our first time out when I discovered there were half dozen other airstreams in the park, and the folk with the numbers were excited to meet us.

It's also great to have news about rallies, discounts, and ideas.

It's Wally B-Y-A-M
The club is the WBCCI, Wally Byam Caravan Club international. Now the Airstream Owners Club. Wally Byam developed the Airstream. The club is divided into regional and state units.; The club has local regional and national rallies as well as club tours aka caravans.

The "big red numbers" designate the club member not the rig. They are traditionally mounted above the front and rear windows along with a round WBCCI logo. I prefer the old way but some members put the numbers on clear plastic and display in their window for club events. It is always a little bit of a thrill to see the big red numbers coming down the highway and an excuse for waving, light blinking and horn blowing.

IMHO "camping" has lost a lot of the camaraderie and friendliness of years past. Joining is a great way to meet new friends, find Airstream support, and travel.

Marshall:

Thank-you for the clarification.

I own a Basecamp, and the numbers present challenges. The entire front of the trailer is window, and the rear is a door. The plexiglass option won't work, since unless it's nighttime and the lights are on inside, you can't see into the windows! (which I love, especially when getting dressed in the morning.)

So, looking for ideas. I have seen the one person who mounted numbers on the rear side. The front we're still not sure of.
