Hello v1.0 Basecamp owners!
I am considering picking up a second airstream - specifically a first generation basecamp. The utility / simplicity is key - I like that there is no plumbing, furnace, etc., and the interior space is very flexible for packing up a bunch of stuff for transport... simple is good!
For those of you who own an original 2007/2008 basecamp - question for you.... how are they holding up after 13 years on the road?!
I am specifically interested in:
- Leaks (front air conditioner area, skylight / roof, rear door)
- WBP plywood flooring (rot / damage, condition given it's exposed on the underside of the trailer)
- Exterior Fiberglass (cracks / fading)
- Rust / Frame corrosion (how is the underside holding up)
I know there have been issues with the air conditioner drain pan leaking, which can be disastrous regarding floor rot. I've owned a 2008 25 foot (and currently own a 2017 30’) so kinda know how airstream were doing things back then / what to look out for generally speaking, but would love to hear from some owners here on how these units are holding up!
