Vulkem?

Hello everyone, I am getting started on fixing those beautiful vista windows and was curious as to what kind of Vulkem sealer does everyone use. Also, what sealer do you suggest for the outside seams?
Thanks

Simple:

Large seams.....SikaFlex 221 Polyurethane in grey.....OR............

for small seams.........Acryl-R.

These are the very same sealants that the factory is currently using.

I'm not Lew...but have a long sheet metal background...anything 1/8" and over is a large seam IMHO. I use the Sikaflex/Vulkem to seal round windows, along the top of the trim rails, etc. Use the Arcyl-R/Parabond for the tight seams, like along panels and anywhere else the gap is tight.

Newbie Question

I see you folks talking about all kinds of sealants for restoration work. We have a newer camper but I assume one day I will have to face the dreaded roof leak situation. Since these things never happen on a dry day in my airstream dealers parking lot, what kind of general purpose sealant should I keep in the toolbox for when I'm on the road, far from any help?
Thanks

vulkem - source?

Hi, I am replacing some panels and need a source for the vulkem. Also I see various grades, which do I use for placing panels? Barry

Hi, Barry,

Welcome to the forums! You can get the grade of Vulkem that you want at Vintage Trailer Supply. Note, the Vulkem brand name is used on a number of sealants so you want to make sure you get the right stuff. Vintage Trailer Supply has a little dissertation on it on their web site.

Vulkem
