Sent Airstream an email last week...

Asking them if I could purchase a set of Basecamp tail lights for my '49 liner as I believe they'd be perfect for my somewhat restomod. I figured they wouldn't be cheap, can't find a pair anywhere else etc. If you are not interested in selling me a pair oh well.

Still waiting on a response.

Al Zeppelin, Have you tried to call Out of Doors Mart in North Carolina? They are very helpful and may be able to
get the parts you need. Ed

That sounds like a really neat idea for tail lights for a '49 Liner. I hope that you can find them.

Also, we would love to see pictures of your "hotrod" Liner.

Suggest you contact an authorized Airstream dealer.

Al -

Have you tried Vintage Trailer Supply for other options?

They have a bunch of vintage style repros that might work too on your resto-mod - including the old "wedding cake" style - among others.

Most have the LED bulb type option too.

The OP deserves a response from AS even if it is h*ll no. I'm still waiting on a response to a question I sent customer service almost two years ago.

Sourcing Obsolete Parts

Something I do for vintage or special interest cars and motorcycles but you can try this method because as a general rule manufacturers and dealers cant/wont get this stuff (which is why they blew right past your email request).
1) This forum (a big maybe that someone will know will to get your parts but best place to start)
2) Google search (you'd be surprised! Ebay, etc... keep trying)
3) Used AS dealers and boneyards

In this case, most likely a hobbyist/collector will have these items, but you can never tell where you can source rare vintage parts for ANYTHING!
Hope this helps

Why don't you just call Jackson center?? I always call when I have a question or need a part...very helpful and I get my questions resolved.

Not sure they have a "customer reply" department for mail anyway? I have also called on warranty issues and got prompt service including free replacment on a couple items on my new AS...just saying...

I did, went to voice mail still awaiting a return call or email. I finally have solved my issue, I am getting rid of the AS because of poor customer service and poor dealer service. I went to get a VA State inspection last week and my dealer has moved, you think they would notify their customer base...... but no.

Base Camp taillights or any other AS parts

Sounds like you have your info, however if you or anyone needs parts or info, I agree with simply call Out of Doors Mart in Greensboro NC. They are the oldest continually operation AS dealer. It is amazing what they have in stock, old and new. They have been extremely helpful to me for over 40 years. Their prices are very reasonabe for parts and service (I didnt say cheap, we are talking AS here, but in line with Camping World on comparable items). Im not affilated with ODM, just a loyal satisfied customer.

They typically won't sell to you unless you are at Jackson Center. In most cases, they will refer you to an authorized dealer.

Silvertwinkie, I stopped by their dealership two years ago and bought parts for my "67 Safari that I was told were NOS. They have an amazing amount of parts in their inventory and are always helpful at OoDM ! Very helpful. I can highly recommend them. If they don't have it they will search for your needed part. Great Folks! Ed
