Remove decals
We've just purchased a 1996 Excella. It has a dull exterior and peeling decals. Would like to remove these tacky decals.. Please offer suggestions. Been reading reg. the clearcoat issues. HELP!

Not having done this on an Airstream yet, I would try a hair dryer to soften the decal and adhesive. It should allow you to carefully pull the decal free. Maybe there's a better way.

Go to an auto parts store that supplies auto paints. Get a pin stripe eraser. It is a flat wheel that is made of the same material like an eraser. It attaches to a drill and can be used to peel off the decals. Time consuming, but works well. We used it to remove all striping from our 84 Soverign. Just work opposite of the direction it is turning. Get the one with the shaft that goes into the drill. Got mine from Oriellys auto parts.

i work for a label/sticker/decal printing company and we always deal with adhesive issues. we use an industrial strength adhesive remover similar to goo gone but stronger, I think goo gone in a spray bottle sprayed on decals and let it sit for 20 min will peel right off, with no harm to clearcoat

the only thing I have foud that worked is to place a wet (MAKE SURE IT IS WET) towel over the decal then a hot iron, it comes right off. the ghost from the letter will remain, and polishing will help with this.
Cant take credit though the idea is inland andy's.

Yep. Worked well for me in removing decals from two trailers.
