My new 1955 Safari!

Hello,

I'm the proud owner of a 1955 Safari and now I need to figure out my next move. I think the first thing I need to do is seal it up. It has a hole in one of the front segments that needs replaced. Its missing a vent cover for the heater and I need to replace a couple of windows and a roof vent. Does anyone know a good place to get original replacement parts. I would welcome any advice from you experienced airstreamers.

It hasn't been used in quite a few years so I'm a little nervous about plugging it in. Is there an easy way to check wiring?

Thanks

Pat

Thats nice! It looks like it was cared for then abused....leaving openings like that and having any type branch rub the skin. I'd say plug it in and see what works....you can't hurt anything. Then, check plumbing for major problems...and hook it up. Check for problems to fix. Again, what can you hurt. THEN, figure out what you REALISTICALLY going to do. Please don't be one who tears everything out...THEN realizes the magnitude of the job. Lots of great help around here when you need it.

That's a good point Melody. I'm not looking to do a skin off restoration right now, I just want to make if a functional camper again. This camper sat for at least 6 years and maybe longer but its really not in that bad of shape. I can't wait to get it working again but its going to take a lot of research to get it done right.

I finally received the title for this beauty! Time to get to work. The first thing I would like to do is fix the hole in the front. I'm going to have to replace 3 of the 13 panels. The nice thing is they are made from flat pieces of aluminum but I can't figure out how to put the flange on the bottom of the panels. Does any one know what type of tool I would have to have to make them?

Thanks

Thanks
